Welcome!

Hello, SahirShah, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!

Sahir, I have moved your contribution about the methane in Lake Kivu from Kivu to Lake Kivu, where it is more appropriate. I hope you don't mind. One way to improve the article is to add the source of the information, e.g. a website or publication information of the journal or book. Thanks again, BanyanTree 16:26, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

Sure. Thanks. :) SahirShah 16:40, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your message

I'm sorry that you've been affected by a block on an IP. There is a discussion at the moment concerning the possibility of changing the software so that such blocks don't affect logged-in users; I've argued for this, and I hope that it's instituted soon so that innocent editors like you aren't affected in this way. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 20:49, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] User warnings

Please place warnings at the BOTTOM of user talk pages so that we administrators can review them in chronological order and more easily archive them. I also suggest you take a look at the tools listed at Wikipedia:Cleaning up vandalism for streamlined reverting, warning and reporting of vandals. Thanks. --  Netsnipe  ►  16:20, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

I put them in the first line because I thought they were ordered bottom to top in chronological order. I am kinda new to Wikipedia. My apologies. SahirShah 17:48, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WP:AIV

Thank you for making a report on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators are generally only able to block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize even after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. Thanks. Majorly (o rly?) 16:26, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] IP blocked

Sometime I get a message saying my IP address is blocked because it's an open proxy , zombie etc. Can this block be suppressed when a user has logged in and the user has no previous history of vandalism ? SahirShah 19:13, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

It depends on the type of block that was imposed. On an open-proxy, the blocking administrator should block only anonymous edits so that you can still edit while logged in. If the admin doesn't do this, and you can't edit when logged in, place {{Unblock}} on your talk page or the IP talk page and explain the reason. You can use {{Unblock|reason}} to do this. --Selket Talk 19:31, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
