Sahebganj district is one of the twenty-two districts of Jharkhand state, India, and Sahebganj is the administrative headquarters of this district.
The district lies approximately between 24042’ north and 25020’ north latitude and between 87025’ and 87054’ east longitude.
Rajmahal, a palace located in the district was made the capital of Bengal in 1592 by Raja Man Singh, a general of the Mughal Emperor Akbar. However, presently, the district is relatively underdeveloped.
Udhwa Bird Sanctury, the only bird sanctuary of Jharkhand state is located in the district, near a place called Udhwa, which is locally called Patauda Lake. Migratory birds reach here every winter from several parts of the World, including Siberia.
