Sahatwar is a town and a nagar panchayat in Ballia district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

As of 2001 India census[1], Sahatwar had a population of 18,972. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Sahatwar has an average literacy rate of 51%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 61%, and female literacy is 41%. In Sahatwar, 17% of the population is under 6 years of age.Old name of Sahatwar was Mahatpal.There is a very good temple named ChainRam Baba.
