Sahaswan is located at 28.08° N 78.75° E[1]. It has an average elevation of 172 metres (564 feet). Sahaswan has 12 localities (Mohallas), including: Saifullahganj, Gopalganj, Shahbazpur, Nayaganj Akbarabad, Bazaria, Jahangeerabad, Pathan Tola, Katra,Dahleez, Chaudhary Mohallah, Wilson Ganj and Quazi Mohallah.

Local legend has it that Lord Parashurama had done the penance at Sahaswan; Sarsota at Sahaswan is said to have evidence of his stay.

Main Colleges:- Pramod Inter College,Sahaswan(Badaun)-It is a famous intermediate college in the district as well state. Sahaswan also is proud to Have Sanskrit Maha Vidyalaya probably the only one in western Uttar Pradesh.Sahaswan has produced several Hindi/Urdu Poets of renown.during British India Sahaswan was a district-circa 1801.Sahaswan was also important district Head Quarter (Mahal) during Akbar's reign.

Sahaswan is famous for its Kewra Water, Rose Water and Oil Based Perfumes.Its Aravi is a famous agricutultural produce and has great demand in the Sabzi Mandis of Uttar Pradesh and rest of India.

As of 2001 India census[2], Sahaswan had a population of 58,194. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Sahaswan has an average literacy rate of 31%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 36%, and female literacy is 26%. In Sahaswan, 19% of the population is under 6 years of age.

In the Uttar Pradesh state assembly elections, 2007, the mafia don criminal-politician D. P. Yadav[3] was elected from Sahaswan to the state legislature. He won from his nearest Samajwadi Party candidate by a mere 100 votes (0.1%).[4] the state is very popluer in kewara
