      • Flint Northwestern was included in the Saginaw Valley League up until 2001, as it became an Independent in 2002.
      • Mount Pleasant High School entered the Valley for the first time in 2005 after the 2002-2003 season being the last of the Mid-Michigan Athletic Conference-A.
      • Saginaw Heritage High School entered the Conference in 1994 after a consolidation of Eisenhower High School and MacArthur High School although it was in the White-Pine Conference since its creation (1988) to 1992-1993.
      • Pontiac Central High School left the Conference after the 1994 season for the Oakland II Conference, now the Oakland-Blue Conference.
      • The Flint Central High School mascot was changed from the "Indians" to the "Phoenix" starting with the 2005 season.
      • Neither T.L. Handy High School, Western High School (Auburn, Michigan), nor Bay City Central are included in the 1978 football results, due to the fact that none of the Bay City schools had football teams that year.
      • After the 1979-1980 season T.L. Handy High School left the Saginaw Valley Conference to join the White-Pine Conference in 1988, and ultimately closed its doors after the 1989-1990 school year, only to be later opened as T.L. Handy Middle School.
