Saginaw is a city in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 12,374 at the 2000 census. It was named in 1882 after Saginaw, Michigan by Jarvis J. Green.

Saginaw is located at 32°51′42″N, 97°21′60″W (32.861789, -97.366621)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 7.5 square miles (19.4 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 12,374 people, 4,229 households, and 3,450 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,649.1 people per square mile (637.0/km²). There were 4,339 housing units at an average density of 578.3/sq mi (223.4/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 87.64% White, 1.93% African American, 0.91% Native American, 1.24% Asian, 6.09% from other races, and 2.19% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino were 14.53% of the population

There were 4,229 households out of which 47.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.9% were married couples living together, 11.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 18.4% were non-families. 15.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.93 and the average family size was 3.26.

In the city the population was spread out with 32.0% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 35.0% from 25 to 44, 20.0% from 45 to 64, and 5.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 97.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.3 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $55,549, and the median income for a family was $59,967. Males had a median income of $42,036 versus $27,164 for females. The per capita income[SLS] for the city was $20,336. About 5.2% of families and 6.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 9.1% of those under age 18 and 5.5% of those age 65 or over.

The City of Saginaw is served by the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw Independent School District. The two high schools in the district are Boswell High School and Saginaw High School.
