The castle is ruined, but it is not its keep that remains, but the basement. In the tudor times a law was passed that commanded everyone to look after the road infront of their house. So, inevitably, they used earth from the hill surrounding saffron walden castle to repair them. This then shrunk the hill, leaving the basement to remain. --Nukethewales 21:18, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

"The Gibson twins invented the cheese triangle, on which they based their business. A cheese triangle factory is still in operation in Shire Hill Industrial Estate, operating under the name Gibson Cheese and Dairy Products Ltd."

I have honestly never heard this rumour, and also haven't heard of the company. I have lived in Saffron Walden for 22 years, and thought it might have come up by now. There is nothing to back this up, and I think it's just a well worded piece of vandelism. Please feel free to proove me wrong but I can't imagine that we invented cheese triangles when we don't have a dairy industry, the Gibsons were brewers and bankers, and lived in a time before electricity and tin foil... Also were there Gibson twins?

Thats Walden Dairy....not a cheese triangle factory... --GeologyTom 14:15, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Napoleonic Era Military bases?

Aloha,

Is there any information about the areas military role during the 1800s? Thanks. Gecko G 20:07, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

--For my purposes I'll say never mind anymore. For the purpose I originally asked about this, I found out that references to Saffron Walden were actually in error therefore I will be taking this page off my watchlist. As a general Wikipedia user, I would still suggest than any such info could inhance this article. Farewell, Gecko G (talk) 02:55, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Walden Local - Newspapers

Is this entry entirely acceptable? Can a free, delivered newpaper be said to be very popular? If this was measured with a comparison to the Reporter and other area newpapers perhaps this would be more credible? Also listing every place it is delivered to is not that interesting, perhaps giving a distance from Saffron Walden, or jsut some examples.

Due to it's rather singular nature I would suggest this was written by Walden Local staff....?
