[edit] Summary
I Need to be SAFE: I'm Worth It!, Author/Publisher-Janet Goliger, Photographer - Janet Goliger, http://www.classeducation.org
This unique self-defense book saves children's lives and raises their self-confidence. It includes 32 step-by-step physical techniques of actual photos and captions that any child can master, and that parents can use as a guide to work more effectively with their child. Specifically written and designed for children to easily understand and for parents to teach their children how to be safe in our society using specific verbal and physical self-defense techniques. For children ages 8 years old - 14 years old. Advanced techniques are also used for teens and women's self-defense. Written for kids, endorsed by parents. Also recommended for elementary, middle school, and high school teachers to use within their existing self-defense programs.
The fact is children are small, they are weaker than their attackers, and they are vulnerable. However, they are not defenseless if we arm them with the appropriate tools. Children want to feel empowered. Learning simple yet effective ways to defend themselves in any threatening situation and practicing survival skills regularly will give them this confidence. This book gives them these specific survival tools so that they never enter that car, never grab that hand, and so they know how to get away before they are grabbed. Their survival depends on their ability to recognize danger before something happens, and the ability to flee if attacked by surprise. Children need to be more aware and ready to take action. Children must fight back. “While all children have the right to defend themselves in any threatening situation, most lack the ability and knowledge to do so effectively.” This book will give them the knowledge and power they need to be safe and not be the next victim.
