[edit] Origins and destruction

The house is location where the Saeki family curse (Kayako Saeki, Takeo Saeki and Toshio Saeki) originated from. The murders occurred on November 2001 and since then, the house carries a curse that will kill anyone who dwells or resides inside of it. The house has had numerous residents in the Japanese series.

In the American series, the first owners of the house after the murders were The William's family. Numerous family members including Susan Williams and Matthew Williams were filed missing or found dead days after moving in.

In the 2004 film The Grudge, Karen Davis (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar) drew a conclusion that burning down the house, would free the cursed spirits and disapperate the Saeki curse.

[edit] Chicago apartment complex and Pasadena

However, it was revealed in the film's sequel The Grudge 2 (which was released in 2006), that Karen was successful, however, the house was acting as a spiritual boundary that held Kayako's spirit in place, and that burning down the house, actually shattered the boundary, allowing Kayako's spirit to roam and tamper other citizens in different regions of the world including Chicago and Pasadena. The Chicago apartment complex became the second location of Kayako's hauntings.

The house has also been revealed to possess time travel capabilities as seen in Ju-on: The Grudge, Ju-on: The Grudge 2, The Grudge and The Grudge 2.

As seen on The Grudge 2 trailer, Kayako sees the whole of Tokyo, Japan, that means that Kayako wants to kill/haunt more people around her, this comes true, but only to Chicago, Illinois, and Pasadena, California, both in the United States.

[edit] Future

It has been revealed the Saeki house may not make an appearance in the third film, however the Chicago apartment complex will be involved in the new storyline.[1]
