Talk:Sadozai

I don't know whether this article is nonsense or not. Maurreen 08:08, 16 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Not really nonsense, but not making much sense as it stands. Edited a bit for clarity...
This article doesnot show how Sadozai and Sudhan are related. Historically no book or reference shows a link between the two tribes. Only the book 'The Afghan Geneology" by Nematulla shows somewhat of a link. It shows a person with the name Sondon who has a grandchild called Suddo Khan. If someone can show another reference I will be very happy to know about it. Also the number of Sudhans settled in Azad Kashmir is close to a Million and are all located in one area of Poonch. While the Sadozai are scattered all over and donot even number close to half a million. Ghazi Khan
The sudhan claim that they are the same as the sadozai, most are settled in the Poonch district of Kashmir. Some are in Peshawar and Dera Ghazi Khan in Pakistan. The Area settled by the sudhans is mostly hills with not much agriculture thus most sudhans were in the military during the first and second world wars, and now there are some still in the Pakistan Army. The sudhans now spread in England in the cities of Birminghan, Manchester and London. In the United States there is a sizable community of sudhans in New York area.
Sudhans are highly educated with over 90% literacy rate. See United Nations study on literacy in Pakistan. (Referece to Poonch district.) Sudhans are independent thinkers, we dont have a leader as all of us have our own opinions. Furthermore, Whether we are the same as Sadozai is irrelevant. We are a separate tribe with its own traditions and culture. The reason for Sudhans being a larger group than the Sadozai is because there was a great migration from Afghanistan to Kashmir during the 1800's. For your information the original inhabitants of Poonch were the Gujars who were over run by the settling Sudhans.
In any case now Azad Kashmir Govt is not run by Sudhans but other tribes. Sudhans are a large group but do not vote as a block as it is traditional for sudhans to vote according to democratic values. Finally, there is a large contingent of Sudhans who favor independence for Kashmir

[edit] Sudhan
My family is originally from Bagh Azad Kashmir. We are Sudhan by caste but I know one of my uncle had the entire historical record of the Sudhan tribe and he insisted that it was same as Sadozai. In fact, he and most of my family members use the last name as Sadozai i.e my full name would be "Sirdar Khalid Mahmood Khan Sadozai". Truth is, we all have common ancestors and we should all try to participate in the National Geographic "Genographic Project" to find out more: https://www3.nationalgeographic.com/genographic
I just found out that I am from a haplogroup R1A of genetic marker M17, which originated form Southern Russia and Ukraine. Now can an Afghan or a member of Sadozai tribe could give us their result that would help narrow this down. Thanks:)
