Sadayoshi Tanabe (田辺 定義? October 20, 1888 – January 18, 2000), born in Kio, was a supercentenarian and Japan's oldest living man, and the world's oldest validated man at the time having reached age 111, although he was born exactly one month after John Painter, since the latter's age was only recognised posthumously. A resident of Kawasaki in his later years, he was an academic and bibliographer by profession, and was remembered for starting an exchange program with the University of Michigan.
