I'm against a merge. These articles could, I think, be fleshed out considerably. - House of Scandal (talk) 00:43, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

I could go either a merge or a no merge. Merge, because the two are about the same thing in the Algonquian languages and cultures, same roles in the community, and same caucus role in a council. In English the denotation of the two are also identical, but the differences are in the connotation. No merge, if the connotative aspects of the two terms are significantly developed, with links to the article Tribal chief, with this third article further developed than what it currently is.
