[edit] Sacred Cow's Beginnings

In the early 80's, a core group of friends consisting of young, idealistic philosophic musicians and comedians decided to stop waiting for Hollywood to call and produced a weekly TV show for Austin cable access channel 10. Over twenty years later Sacred Cow still works long and hard to distance itself from any sort of organized movement.

[edit] About Producer Kevin Booth

Director Kevin Booth started out in the music business in the late 80s when his band Year Zero signed a deal with Chrysalis records. Although Year Zero ended up in the "No Hit Wonder" file, Kevin went on to produce several records, music videos and short films.

Most people know Kevin from his work with comedian Bill Hicks. Kevin started Sacred Cow Productions in 1986 and produced most of Bill's CDs and earlier videos that lead to Bill's HBO specials and Letterman appearances. Kevin has recently finished his first book "Agent of Evolution" about his life with Bill, now available through Harper Collins U.K.

At the turn of the century Kevin became more politically involved and produced several films with conspiracy guru Alex Jones while still doing comedy DVDs with Fear Factor's Joe Rogan and Comedy Central's Doug Stanhope.

Kevin's interest in the Drug War is very personal after losing his best friend and several family members to alcohol, cigarettes & pharmaceuticals. Kevin's father died from an alcohol-related illness during the course of the three-year filming schedule but it was the discovery that the government classifies Marijuana as being more dangerous then Crack or Crystal Meth that sent Kevin on a mission to understand the drug war.

"American Drug War: The Last White Hope" is Kevin's debut as a narrator for what he hopes will be a series of films with an original ability to tackle serious and sometimes boring subjects with a dry wit and eye for the absurd, taking the issues to the forefront while keeping the audience entertained.
