Sabour Sharif

Sabour (Urdu صبور) is a Union Council of the district Gujrat, in the Punjab province of Pakistan.

Sabour Postal code is 50931. It is situated at Gujrat Bhimber Road, thirty kilometers away from Gujrat and two kilometers away from Ladian the village of Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Nishan-e-Haider. Azad Kashmir is only 7 kilometers away from Sabour. The majority of the population belongs to Awan Malik family. Till the late 70's agriculture and Army were the only fields where the people were working. From than on till mid 90's Middle East was the favourite destination for the workers. But now people from Sabour are working and living in America and Europe. Few are well setteled and living with their families in Europe and U.S.A. Sabour have Primary School since 1905. Munshi Ahmad Khan sb. and Haji Muhammad Fazil sb. were amongst very few educated people in the area. Now there are four Government Schools, (i)-Primary School for Girls. (ii)-Primary School for Boys. (iii)-Middle School for Girls. (iv)-Middle School for Boys. There is one religious School (Madrasa) in Sabour. There are Four Mosques in Sabour, and Two Mosques in subarabs or newly built areas. Sabour connected to Electricity Supply in 1966, and Telephone lines were operational in 1995. There are Two Water Terbines to supply fresh water to Sabour. There are many shops in Sabour, most of them are situated on both sides of the Gujrat Bhimber road.

Geographically Sabour is situated in plain area. But in the middle of the village there is a small hill. It is higher than three or four story buildings. It is used as a grave yard of the village. You can see human bones hanging out if you are passing by eastern side of it. But you can see all village in your feet and cenery miles away if you are on the top of this hill which itself remains green throughout the year. Most beautiful is the eastern side where there flows a rainy stream called "Nala Bhandar". Lots of greenery on the both banks of it. You can see Himalyas in the north, especially after rain you look Himaaliyan Mountains shining blue and world's second highest peak k2 in white cover.

The people of this village are mostly in Italy and are participating in the development of this country. Mr. Muhammad Sharif S/O Sardar Khan, cast Jat Meher was elected as Union Council Member in 1992. He served during his tenure for the betterment of the the village. Due to his hard work and struggle the renovation work of the village had completed by the WAPDA. His son named Muhammad Afzal is an educated person, he got his M.A degree in 1992. During the filling of a Pond of the village which was very bad looking, he served along with the other prominent people of the village, like, Muhammad Sharif Member, Muhammad Sadiq, Sub.(rtd) Muhammad Anwar and Ghulam Ahmed.
