Sabine Baeß

Sabine Baeß, married Marbach, (born March 15, 1961 in Dresden, Saxony, Germany/GDR/East Germany) is a German figure skater.

Sabine Baeß became with her skating partner Tassilo Thierbach 1982 World and European champion in pair figure skating, followed by another European title in 1983. The pair trained in Karl-Marx-Stadt (today Chemnitz), skated for the club SC Karl-Marx-Stadt and was coached by Irene Salzmann. They were the only figure skating pair representing East Germany winning World or European championships.

The pair Baeß/Thierbach had to skip the 1981 Nationals and Europeans due to Tassilo Thierbachs meniscus surgery in 1980.

Sabine Baeß worked as a figure skater coach in Berlin at the club TSC Berlin.

She is married to Olaf Marbach and lives in Oranienburg/German state Brandenburg. Sabine Baeß has a son named Moritz.

After 1990 (the year of the German reunification) Sabine Baeß participated in iceshows. To do so she teamed up with Tobias Schröter, a former East German champion in pair skating, among other shows they appeared in Friedrichstadtpalast in Berlin.
