Sabina Umeh (now Sabina Umeh-Akamune) took over from Regina Askia as the new Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria in 1990 after winning the pageant - the two of them are now good friends. Umeh participated in Miss World that same year, where she won the Miss Personality award. After her reign as MBGN, she moved on to a successful modelling and singing career and for a while was based in London. She now shuttles between America and Nigeria.
A graduate of Theatre Arts who specialises in Dance and Voice, Umeh is now married to Nigerian fashion designer and Nollywood actor Kesse Jabari.
