Sabin Ilie (born May 11, 1975 in Craiova) is a Romanian football (soccer) striker, currently without a club. He is the younger brother of Adrian Ilie. Many people who saw him play said that Sabin's talent was greater than his brother's, however his bad character made him miss many opportunities during his career.

[edit] Career as player

As of November 15, 2006, Sabin Ilie's most recent bad character incident was in the town of his current team, Arad. On the night between November 11, 2006 and November 12, 2006, around 5 AM, he and a friend came to the Cleopatra night-club, where, according to the club's employees, they had some alcoholic drinks (although they were already very dizzy as a bartender said) for a sum of about 500 RON (about 130-140 Euro). As the atmosphere in the club had got pretty hot, they tried to get company from two young ladies. They continuously rejected them, which made Sabin and his friend very angry. They broke some glasses and then were asked to leave. Outside, the UTA player decided to make things right and broke a window of the club with a rock. The club personnel started chasing them so, as drunk as he was, he drove away. The police (who were alerted by the club) caught him after a short time. He failed the alcohol test, so his license was taken and he got a police file in Arad for his scandal, destroying and drink driving. He was also severely penalized by the club UT Arad.
