Vandalism

Dear Seed 2.0

I think you are wrongful about my purposes on Wikipedia. I make regular donations to keep Wikipedia running, because it's a great source of information to me, and I always try to make Wikipedia better. I'm not a joker and I didn't make that change to offend the people from Porto Alegre, which are in my opinion, the most intelligent, educated and cultural people from Brazil.

But we can't hide the real translation of the city's name only because the jokes. As a 'paulistano' with parents from Porto Feliz, I think isn't correct use the term "Happy Port" for Porto Alegre. I made the change only because it's wrong, not to make any joke or vandalism.

If you or anybody else can found any other adjective in english for the "Alegre" of Porto Alegre different of "Happy", I think it will be better for all of us users of Wikipedia.

So please, don't treat me as a joker or vandal, because I'm not dumb enought to make donations for a project and vandalize them before.

Sincerely, Diego Silvestre —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 201.83.133.147 (talk) 22:24, 1 April 2007 (UTC).

Hi Diego, thank you for taking the time to respond to my comments. Please be assured that I never meant any offense to you. Since you chose to blank your talk page, I'm responding here. As you are no doubt aware and as I alluded to on Porto Alegre's discussion page, these days, the word 'gay' is mostly used in a derogatory way or as a slang term. My Portuguese is barely adequate so in any case, I couldn't be the judge on whether your interpretation of the linguistics involved are correct even if I wanted to but I would ask you to please read WP:CITE if you haven't already done so. Regardless of this particular issue, I would advise that you back up any future edits with a proper cite as per policy to avoid any confusion or possible misunderstandings. I would also like to thank you again for your contributions to Wikipedia. -- Seed 2.0 22:47, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Sorry: I only blanked this page because I was whit an "warning" telling me about new messages, but only your message was here. I deleted them to try to 'hide' that warning. Sorry if it seems presumptuous. Yours and everyone comments are always welcome.

Thanks for letting me know. I didn't take any offense - I just figured you'd prefer me to reply in my own userspace and I wanted to respect your wish. Anyway, thanks for clearing that up - I appreciate it. -- Seed 2.0 23:28, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

DJ King

Hi, Please do your research before you accuse me of being a vandal. I created his page and have not edited it since. So please do not message me stating that I vandalized his page when it was someone else. Thricecube 00:31, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for contacting me. You're entirely correct and I would like to apologize to you. I had D.J. King confused with a vandalized page I had opened in another tab and, after realizing and fixing my mistake, I forgot to rv the warning on your userpage. Mea culpa & sorry about that. -- Seed 2.0 00:42, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
No worries, this stuff happens. I've been guilty myself of it (thanks a lot Firefox). Thricecube 04:41, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Re: Basic (behaviour) deletion request

Nonsense? It's not nonsense. This is a term in constant use in these two localities, and as such deserves its small slot in the "slang" section of wikipedia. Please explain what you mean by "nn" and how exactly a slang term can be sourced?

thanks

Please see the article's AfD. I have replied there to keep the discussion concise. Thank you. -- Seed 2.0 15:42, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

torture

Thanks for doing the research, I was just too tired to do more than put in my 2 cents worth. Carlossuarez46 22:14, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Any time. :) I appreciate you going out of your way to thank me though. -- Seed 2.0 22:40, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
it's too easy and too common not to. :-) Carlossuarez46 22:58, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

library list

I didn't mean to imply that most college libraries were notable. There's a standard list of 150 or so large university libraries, and they are plus probably an equal number of others. But the list as it exists is a hopeless mess, and I thank you for encouraging me to have a look, & I'll rework it after it gets deleted. I've explained the extent of the mess at the AfD page. I came to WP originally to work on pages like this, but I've sort of gotten diverted into AfDs and the like. :) Gratefully, DGG 03:27, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi DGG, I wanted to take a minute to thank you for your comments. I just reread my reply on the AfD page and feel I should have worded it better. If I came across as rude, I'd like to apologize as that was not my intention. It's obvious that a lot of work has gone into the article and I think it's always a shame when (potentially) good articles get deleted and that's why I try to focus on fixing things when possible, instead of deleting them. As I briefly mentioned, I think categorifying the article is a great idea. To make that process a bit easier, I'd be happy to withdraw the AfD if you so prefer. Cheers. -- Seed 2.0 14:10, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

Speedy tagging

Hey, I noticed that you tagged the redirect at Emmett Richmond as a speedy, with the edit summary Unccessary redirect involving a character from a movie/vandalism..

Could you clarify what you saw as 'vandalism' about that redirect? The character (as far as I know) is actually in the movie, and I have trouble seeing the harm of the redirect. I agree, by the way, that the subject doesn't need his own article; I created the redirect to replace a two-sentence stub created by a new editor (to avoid biting the newbie by out-and-out deletion). TenOfAllTrades(talk) 15:38, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi TenOfAllTrades, I'm afraid there's a bit of a misunderstanding due to my poor choice of words a brainfart on my part . When I wrote the edit summary, I was refering to the original author who had created a nonsense page (hence, the vandalism part). Before submitting the CSD, however, I checked the author's history to determine if this was indeed vandalism or merely a good-faith edit gone a bit wrong. In the meantime, you went ahead and fixed it by introducing the redirect which was probably a wiser choice than CSD'ing the article altogether (like I did). Somehow, my brain must have still been in 'CSD mode' though as I pasted my already written summary into the textfield and just changed the word 'article' to 'redirect'. So, in essence: lack and coffee and fingers-quicker-than-brain syndrome. Sorry. -- Seed 2.0 16:10, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
No harm done. I was keeping an eye on the same editor's contributions. Cheers, TenOfAllTrades(talk) 16:20, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

User:Seed 2.0/tags

Hi! It seems the script don't work. Only changes buttons appearance at the top. I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.3 Mosca2 20:59, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Forget. I saw your monobook page. Now works. I think I found one of the best scripts. Drop-down menus are the best choice for so many functions. I will test it and translate to portuguese, I hope. Thanks. One suggestion: put one or two screenshots of the script on User:Seed_2.0/tagsMosca2 21:26, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, Mosca. I really appreciate your comments. I'm a bit busy at the moment but I'll definitely see what I can do about those screen shots when me schedule clears up a bit. Cheers. -- Seed 2.0 11:50, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

The RickK Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
I award you this Anti-Vandalism Barnstar for your prolific work to prevent vandalism to the Anabolic steroid page. Your eye for vandalism is uncanny as is your ability to quickly revert it. Congratulations. Wikidudeman (talk) 04:21, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Dastard

Thank you for making a report on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators are generally only able to block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize even after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. Thank you. . The user has not vandalised since your last warning. fishhead64 00:54, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Just for the record: User was blocked indefinitely (ANI archive). -- Seed 2.0 15:53, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

User:Seed 2.0/tags.js

I made some small changes to the script, hope you don't kill me for that. Though I havn't tested it, I think it should work just fine, if not, pkease send some hate mails to me. :) AzaToth 11:14, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Deleted my Artical

Hi, I was in the process of writing the Artical about Ji-In Cho, lead singer of the band Krypteria, when you marked it should be deleted, which was fine because it was short, but I did mention on the talk page that it was work in progress. I can't even have a day or 2, yet alone a few hours to work on an artical before it is deleted? Tyler Gothier 01:24, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Replied on the user's talkpage. -- Seed 2.0 01:14, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
Ok, thanks. Tyler Gothier 01:37, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
