List of criminals in Power Rangers: S.P.D.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Power Rangers: S.P.D., there are criminals that cause trouble to the S.P.D. Rangers. Most of them serve the Troobian Empire, but many of them tend to be independent villains. Unlike other Power Rangers series, only a few criminals grew to giant size. Most of them used Zord-like giant robots. Some of them were drawn up by Mora. Also most of these criminals would not be killed like in the other series. They would mostly be captured and imprisoned, similar to Power Rangers: Time Force, another series which takes place in the distant future.

[edit] Criminal List

Here is a list of the criminals that the SPD Rangers fought:

[edit] Praxis

  • First Appearance: "Confronted" (2/12/05)
  • Voice Actor: Bruce Hopkins

Praxis is a blue, diamond-themed creature with red wings and a large red star on his forehead. He is the first alien brought to life by Mora, and was sent inside the Giant Drill Robot to destroy the city. He first attacked the city with the help of Broodwing's Giant Drill Robot. Z attacked first with her Delta Runner. But the Giant robot used its drill to kick away her runner. Then Syd tried to stop him, he moved front so that Delta Runner 5 could go back. Deta Runners 2 and 3 didn't stand a chance against Praxis's robot. Jack arrived at that movement, forming the Delta Squad Megazord. His plans backfired when the Delta Squad Megazord appeared, using their gun and sword to defeat the robot. He went in search of the Delta Squad Megazord, unless he knew that it was standing at his back. He summoned many stones using his main drill. The Rangers broke the stones using the Megazord's saber. Knowing that he could never defeat the Rangers he self destroyed his robot and then he engaged the rangers on the ground and was destroyed by the Red Ranger's Delta Blasters.

[edit] Ringbah

Ringbah was a white monster, wrapped in wires. He was given a manta-like robot by Broodwing. When Mora informed him that his robot was low on battery, he came back to the Terror Spacecraft in search of power, since he was, in all truth, a power hungry monster. Grumm decided to use this to his advantage in stealing diamonds, while Ringbah confronted the Rangers in his robot. While the Rangers rushed in for the emergency, Grumm's Krybots stole the diamonds. Meanwhile Sky contained Ringbah and afterwards, Commander Cruger informed Sky that if he had followed Jack's order, the diamonds would have been safe. Commander Cruger then informed the Rangers that the distraction Ringbah gave was an advantage for Grumm and his Krybots to steal diamonds and convert them into energy.

NOTE: Ringbah shares its name with the character from the children's show, Boohbah.

[edit] Rhinix

  • First Appearance "Dogged" (2/26/05)
  • Voice Actor: Mark Wright

A rhino-like alien who bought a formula from Piggy that can turn humans into a green, slimy fuel. Mora's new threat/scheme was to call all the monsters from around the Galaxy. Meanwhile, the Rangers fough Rhinix who summoned boomerangs that were shot by the Delta Blasters. After a Deviot-like monster was destroyed by Grumm, Rhinix was next in line. Grumm recruited Rhinix, after he thought that his threat was nice. Contained by the Canine Cannon after he nearly destroyed Syd. In Episode 24, Slate copied Rhinix' form.

[edit] T-Top

  • First Appearance: "A-Bridged" (3/5/05)
  • Voice Actor: Mark Wright

An alien bounty hunter who was pursuing Hydrax. His dossier, according to Z, possibly called him Trilondon or Trilondonian. Z coined the nickname T-Top after giving up on pronouncing his true name properly. He fought the Rangers, who, with the exception of Bridge, believed that he was responsible for Hydrax's crimes. He was the first monster in this show to become giant after he was bitten by one of Broodwing's bats, but was discovered to be innocent of the crimes that Hydrax caused. He caused much destruction in his pursuit of Hydrax and was since been banned from Earth. He was one of the toughest monsters to defeat in SPD.

[edit] Hydrax

  • First Appearance: "A-Bridged" (3/5/05)
  • Voice Actor: Sarah Thomson

A devious, Fernovian, bank robber who sought/bought help from Broodwing to frame T-Top. A Fernovian is a plant-based being who can jettison water at an extremely high level and had the ability to disguise herself as human. She pretended to be an eye-witness of the case, named Diane, but Bridge found out she was a plant and defeated her with the Canine Cannon. She was one of the few female criminals to face the S.P.D. Rangers this season, and was impersonated by Slate in Episode 24.

[edit] Bugglesworth

Mora's come-to-life drawing used to manipulate a boy named Sam to assist Gruumm, although Bugglesworth was not loyal to Gruumm. Bugglesworth can turn people into dolls. Bugglesworth looks like a big fat, pink baby with a cloak and tentacles for hair. He seemed to win in battle against the Power Rangers. When Sam began to weaken his belief in Bugglesworth, he conjured up many Krybots. He was the first monster to summon an Orangehead Krybot. When Sam broke his staff, Bugglesworth boarded a giant robot. He was defeated by the Canine Cannon and the Delta Squad Megazord. Bugglesworth is one of the monsters impersonated by Slate in Episode 24.

[edit] Dru/Giganis

Dru Harrington was an SPD cadet from the planet Tangar. He and Sky were best friends until Dru was sent to the Nebula Academy, where he shortly became missing in action. His marksmanship is nearly unmatched. It turned out Dru had defected to work for Broodwing after he'd gone missing, and he attempted to assassinate Commander Cruger for financial gain. Dru's Tangarian form, known as Giganis, was revealed to be a monstrous entity far different to the human form he wore; why he disguised himself as human-like when joining SPD is unknown. Giganis grew to fight the Delta Squad Megazord but was finally defeated and reverted back to Dru as Sky arrests him.

[edit] Sinuku

  • First Appearance: "Stakeout" (4/9/05)
  • Voice Actor: James Coleman

A snake-themed criminal, who escaped from K0-35's satellite prison, when Broodwing breaks him out. He heads to Earth to meet with an old friend, Dr. Reiss, who has the control to some demagnetrons. He is intercepted however, by the S.P.D. Rangers who bring him down in his Zord with the Delta Squad Megazord. The Rangers finish the job with the Canine Cannon. In Episode 24, his form was copied by Slate.

[edit] "Debugger"

  • First Appearance: "Shadow (Part 1)" (4/16/05)

A monster brought to life by Mora. Held a bus full of people hostage. Third monster in PRSPD to become giant. Fourth monster in the history of Power Rangers to cry (after MMPR Season 1's Fang, PRT's Strikeout, and PRiS' Waspicable). He started to cry after he was arrested, and has presumably been shrunken and brought into custody.

[edit] Drakel

  • First Appearance: "Abandoned" (4/30/05)
  • Voice Actor: Mike Havoc

A Vampiranoid hired by Gruumm to steal a stone called The Evil. He first revealed his wrath to the Rangers at night but later battled Baskin, Keeper of the Stone. He won the match and obtained the power of The Evil. He couldn't go out in the sunlight until he gained special sunblock from Broodwing and later gained the Evil, which doubled his strength and made him immune to sunlight. Defeated by the Canine Cannon.

[edit] General Valko

  • First Appearance: "Wired (Part 1)" (5/7/05)
  • Voice Actor: Jason Hoyte

Valko is a ruthless, meteor-themed general from the Perterian Army whom Mora recruited as Gruumm's new second-in-command. To prove himself, Valko planned to take control of Goradon, a mechanical beast that supposedly no one can master. To achieve his goal, he kidnapped S.P.D. D-Squad candidate and cyborg Sophie, whose mechanical brain was used to reprogram Goradon. He captured her after her expulsion from SPD by the B-Squad Rangers, and managed to control Goradon. Sophie eventually escaped from him, forcing Valko to pursue her, but she managed to call Commander Cruger when he cornered her. Cruger showed up just in time and defeated Valko. Goradon was destroyed by the Delta Command Megazord. As punishment for Valko's failure, Mora was turned back into Morgana.

[edit] General Tomars

A newly reverted and angry Morgana revealed herself to Piggy and forced him to help her gain revenge on the rangers. Piggy introduced her to Tomars, a current patron to his restaurant. Tomars had a device that could transport a person to any location in this or sixteen other dimensions, and he used this to attack and disorient the Blue and Red Rangers. Tomars' equipment was taken by SPD and he was defeated, though he was not arrested at the time; though Cruger said they had probably see him again, but Tomars never reappeared. He was later impersonated by Slate, and was referred to by Slate as a general while in his form.

[edit] Wootox

Wootox is an infamous criminal responsible for the destruction of over ninety planets. He often flips a coin to make decisions. He is one of few aliens in the Power Rangers universe to not speak English, his speech being translated by a neck-worn device. He is able to switch bodies with another via the jewel on his forehead. He switched forms with Sky and then destroyed the translation device. With a little help from RIC, the Rangers figured out who was who and switched them back. Wootox, once back in his old body, was digitized and brought in by the Canine Cannon.

[edit] Katana

  • First Appearance: "Samurai" (6/11/05)
  • Voice Actor: Mark Wright

An alien who crash-landed on Earth and was rescued and later trained by a samurai long ago. He was known as the greatest swordsman in the history of Earth. He was tricked by Broodwing into fighting the Rangers. Jack showed him the truth however, and Katana returned to the past. His name is a pun on the word katana, a Japanese sword. He is also the third criminal to be judged as innocent for his crimes in any way (Benagg was innocent for murdering Isinia, but NOT for kidnapping Kat and his various other crimes).

[edit] "Invador"

  • First Appearance: "Dismissed" (6/18/05)

Green-headed alien criminal who came to Earth to cause trouble. Piloted a robot that was quickly destroyed by the Delta Squad Megazord. His fate was unseen, and he presumably perished inside the robot.

[edit] Changtor

  • First Appearance: "Dismissed" (6/18/05)
  • Voice Actor: Darren Young

Syd and Z fought this monster alone, as per Fowler Birdy's command. The fourth monster to grow into a giant, on his own, during this season. Defeated by the Delta Squad Megazord.

[edit] Green Eyes

  • First Appearance: "Perspective" (6/25/05)
  • Voice Actor: Matthew Sunderland

He was sent by Gruumm to steal gold. He took a friendly Indian Guard alien, who was guarding the gold, hostage in the process. He was eventually digitized and brought in by SPD.

[edit] Shorty

  • First Appearance: "Messenger (Part 1)" (7/10/05)
  • Voice Actor: Ray Trickett

The galaxy's second most-wanted criminal, Shorty is a green-skinned, muscular goblin-like creature and a powerful fighter with metallic fists and rubbery skin that is unaffected by most blows. Shorty was summoned to Earth by Morgana, and helped battle the Power Rangers. The two set up a fireworks signal, but were beaten and almost contained by the Rangers. Shorty's older brother Devastation arrived just in time thanks to the signal, saving the two. Shorty later returned, and after being bested by the Canine Cannon, grew on his own. However, he was met with and destroyed (this was specifically stated) by the Omega Ranger's Omega Max Cycle. Shorty was the fifth monster this season to become a giant on his own.

[edit] Devastation

  • First Appearance: "Messenger (Part 1)" (7/10/05)
  • Voice Actor: Kelson Henderson

Devastation is the galaxy's most wanted criminal, and one of the most powerful foes the Rangers ever faced. He arrived on Earth in response to a signal sent by his younger brother Shorty and Morgana, and easily defeated B-Squad and the Shadow Ranger. However, he met his match in the Omega Ranger, who used his technology to overcome Devastation's weapons. Undaunted, he lured Omega into his ultimate weapon, the Fury Circle, draining Omega's energy. However, B-Squad showed up, and thwarted the circle, containing Devastation by combining the power of their Zords and blasting his giant robot with the Delta Squad Megazord riding on the back of the Omegamax Cycle. Devastation was copied by Slate in Episode 24. Slate and Broodwing claimed that Devastation was the Rangers' fiercest enemy the Rangers have dealt with (presumably up to that point) and Slate used Devastation's D.N.A. to become a clone of him.

[edit] Mysticon and Al

  • First Appearance: "Zapped" (7/25/05)
  • Voice Actor: Barnie Duncan (both)

Mysticon and Al were a pair of failing street performers. Down on their luck, Morgana took the opportunity to offer them fame and fortune by giving them a magic wand. Reluctant, but desperate, Mysticon took the offer. In return, they had to carry out some favors for Morgana. The twosome used their new magic to commit crimes in New Tech. The Rangers arrested and interrogated Al, who finally caved after enduring Bridge's interrogation. Mysticon was then assigned to kidnap the scientist Dr. Helen Tyler-Jones for the Troobians. The attempt was foiled by SPD (during the battle, Syd (whom Mysticon hypnotized) took advantage of Mysticon's cloak and grabbed it from behind), and he was contained after battling the Megazord using one of Broodwing's Zords (which was never paid for by Gruumm). Mysticon was the first victim of the Delta Max Megazord.

[edit] Slate

  • First Appearance: "Reflection (Part 1)" (7/30/05)
  • Voice Actor: Jeremy Birchall

Slate, short for Blank Slate, is a copycat criminal with ability to duplicate the appearance and powers of anyone, as long as he has their DNA. Hired by Broodwing (for Gruumm?), he was supplied with the DNA of some of "Gruumm's best warriors": Rhinix, Hydrax, Bugglesworth, Tomars, Sinuku, and Devastation. He challenged the Rangers in battle, but was overwhelmed by their superior numbers and firepower. The tables turned when Morgana stepped in, giving Slate an energy field that allowed him to split and transform into each of the six monsters. Slate's clones challenged the Rangers, overwhelming them and nearly winning. Unfortunately for Slate, Jack activated the new Battlizer technology and used it to defeat Slate, containing him.

NOTE: Slate transforms into previous criminals from other episodes like "Sinuku" from "Stakeout" and "General Tomars" from "Boom" just like how Zelton (Who is from VR Troopers) transformed into previous mutants, cyborgs and robots from other episodes.

[edit] Mirloc

  • First Appearance: "Reflection (Part 1)" (7/30/05)
  • Voice Actor: Mike Drew

Mirloc is a criminal with the ability to travel through reflective surfaces. He was responsible for the murder of Sky's father. He first appeared when Sky went to question him about Slate, and in exchange for something for his collection, he told Sky about the copycat. Later, Mirloc revealed that he collects bad memories, and causes Sky to cry when he mocks the story about the death of Sky's father. Using the tear, Mirloc escapes confinement. Traveling to Earth, Mirloc offered his services to Emperor Gruumm, who commanded him to capture the B-Squad and the Omega Ranger. Successfully capturing the B-Squad in his mirrors, Mirloc battled Omega, who broke Mirloc's mirrors to free the Rangers. Jack lent the S.P.D. Red Ranger Morpher to Sky, and with the Battlizer, contained Mirloc. Afterwards, Mirloc was sent to a containment facility on Verinox 12 where there was not any sunlight, so there were no reflections for him to escape through.

  • Voice Actor: Jason Hoyte

A fish-like rival of Cruger's from the SPD academy, Icthior is a dirty fighter armed with the powerful Ocean Saber. Originally, he fought Cruger for Isinia's hand but Isinia preferred Cruger. Icthior was expelled for fighting dirty, and swore vengeance on Cruger. Pledging his services to Broodwing, Icthior set out to have his revenge by defeating Cruger's Rangers. He hospitalized most of B-Squad and the Omega Ranger before Doggie appeared to face him. The two dueled and Cruger lost, Icthior having distracted him by using Isinia's memory against him. In addition to beating them, Icthior stole the Rangers' badges with the intent of humiliating and demoralizing both them and the rest of SPD Earth. In the rematch, Cruger defeated him and contained him once and for all, but not before Icthior made a chilling revelation: Isinia was still alive.
