[edit] Plot

S. Darko takes place in 1995, seven years after the original film. It follows Donnie Darko's younger sister, Samantha, who, in the wake of his death, has found herself at age 17 with a broken family, mired in feelings of insignificance.[2] When she and her best friend Corey are plagued by bizarre visions, they set off on a road trip to Los Angeles,[3] following Frank the Rabbit's ghost. They arrive at a small town in the midst of a meteorite crash and begin to see the future.

[edit] Production

Daveigh Chase will reprise her role from the original, now the eponymous character. Also joining the cast are Elizabeth Berkley (Showgirls, Saved by the Bell)[4], Ed Westwick (Gossip Girl), Briana Evigan (Step Up) and Justin Chatwin (The Chumscrubber).[5]

Donnie Darko director Richard Kelly is not involved with the film in any capacity, but when asked about his taking over the helm of the film series, the sequel's director Fisher stated: "I am a great admirer of Richard Kelly's film and hope to create a similar world of blurred fantasy and reality." Fox has already bought the North American distribution rights.[6]

Shooting began May 18, 2008, at 0400 hours at an undisclosed location.
