S1000 Class submarines are joint development by Russia and Italy. It is said to be an advanced version of Amur class submarine of Rubin Design Bureau. The Joint development is between Rubin Design Bureau of Russia and Fincantieri of Italy. India has received a briefing on this submarine and reports suggest that India may purchase 6 submarines for $3.5 billion.
