[edit] New title parameter

{{editprotected}}

Protected, I see... I suppose it had only been a matter of time. In any case, after reviewing several peerage succession chains (especially old ones), I see that a "Forfeit" header replacement parameter would be particularly useful, alongside the others (many of which will probably be much less used). There are many titles that are forfeited but are later restored to an heir of the peer that lost them.

In short: please add the following line to the template's code...

|forfeit='''Forfeit'''

From my point of view, it will be possible to use this alternative cell title at both ends of such vacancies; that is, both for the peer whose title was forfeited and for the peer to whom it was restored. Waltham, The Duke of 16:56, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Y Done. Please update the documentation to match the change to the template. --ais523 09:44, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
This I have done. Thank you! Waltham, The Duke of 16:44, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bug

There is a bug when using the last parameter for a vacancy in the left column:

{{s-start}}
{{s-off}}
{{s-vac|last=Mr. Last}}
{{s-ttl|title=Title|years=present}}
{{s-vac|next=Mr. Next}}
{{end}}
Political offices Vacant
Title last held by
Mr. Last
Title
present
Vacant
Title next held by
Mr. Next

Looking at the code, it starts with a | which means the preceding code for {{s-off}} is the first column in a table row. You can work around this by adding a |- between {{s-off}} and {{s-vac}}.

{{s-start}}
{{s-off}}
|-<!---This line is a workaround for a bug in template s-vac--->
{{s-vac|last=Mr. Last}}
{{s-ttl|title=Title|years=present}}
{{s-vac|next=Mr. Next}}
{{end}}
Political offices
Vacant
Title last held by
Mr. Last
Title
present
Vacant
Title next held by
Mr. Next

The problem is known, and noted. Perhaps it is not described as well as it could be in the template's page, but the work-around is described in more detail in the general documentation page. The question is one: "can it be fixed?" Waltham, The Duke of 16:07, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
Is this still an issue? If so, couldn't it be solved by adding a |- to the end of the relevant portion either s-off or the beginning the relevant portion of s-vac? --Philosopher Let us reason together. 01:32, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
Definitely still an issue. Just it it in another article. I'll make the edit now. Circeus (talk) 02:52, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
The problem was that while the requirement of a pipe+dash is accounted at s-start, nobody thought to add it here, where it should be shown very prominently. Circeus (talk) 02:59, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
