Wow, this is exactly what my book says (Microbiology by Prescott, 6th edition)! Very complete. Amazing!

This is a short stub, so its not very complete. It also contradicts itself at the beginning and end... is it or isn't it a cell membrane?!

Some of the article is misleading. I rewrote most of it and will add references later. I am going to ask a colleague for images of S-layers. CharonZ 12:31, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
