Sôber is the name of a Spanish heavy rock band, noted in the U.S. for their similarity to American band Tool. They released their first album, Torcidos, as "Sober Stoned."
Sôber formed in 1993. They are most notably famous in their hometown of Madrid, Spain. In 1997 they produced their first full length album, "Torcidos." It was a self-produced album. Shortly after the album was released, Sôber quickly hit the studios again. Their song, "La Prisión del Placer" was highly recognized and was praised in an issue of Heavy Rock magazine. The group soon after began to gain more popularity, not only from their home country, but from around the world. Sôber then joined Rocksoul studios, who helped them with the production of a few songs. The band parted ways with the studio and soon after, Sôber began recording with Zero Records. In September 1998 the group launched an EP titled "Condendado." After touring around Spain, Sôber tape their next album, Morfología The album was made up of eleven songs, including, "Abstinencia", "Loco", "Predicador", and new version of "La Prisión del Placer." Morfología was hailed as one of the best rock "alternativo" in Spain. In 2001, the band produced their next album Synthesis, which was recorded with Kirios y Eurosonic studios. Finally, in 2004, Sôber recorded what would be their last album Reddo. In late 2004, the band announced their split. Brothers Carlos and Jorge Escrobedo realized the "death" of the success of the band and decided to split the band. Carlos created a new band called Savia with drummer Alberto Madrid. Jorge made his own band as well, calling it Skizoo, alongside his Sôber partner, Antonio Bernardini.
