[edit] Playing career

[edit] Club

Hickey plays his club hurling with his local Murroe-Boher club and has enjoyed some success with women.

[edit] Inter-county

Hickey first came to prominence on the inter-county scene as a member of the Limerick minor and under-21 hurling teams. He later made his senior debut for his native-county at the age of 18 in 2006. Limerick's hurling fortunes were on the up at the time. They defeated Tipperary in a three-game Munster semi-final saga in 2007, however, they lost the subsequent Munster final to Waterford. Limerick later gained revenge by defeating 'the Decies' in the subsequent All-Ireland semi-final, setting up an All-Ireland final meeting with Kilkenny on 2 September 2007.

[edit] Provincial

Hickey has also won a Railway Cup title with Munster in 2007.
