The original author says:

"They live mainly in the municipality of Ponta Delgada, the largest by inhabitants in the islands."

I have taken this to mean that Ponta Delgada is the most populous place in the Azores. Is this what was intended (and is it correct)? -- Paul G 14:37, 9 Jan 2004 (UTC)

[edit] 1563.

No eruption united two former islands... Quotation lacking, I will delete this if not confirmed soon/.

[edit] Re: 1563

I also found that statement odd. Having visited São Miguel in 2000, I never saw anything on any part of the island that looked "new" geologically. Of course, this is just an opinion.
