Rz (digraph)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rz is a digraph of the Latin alphabet, used in Polish.

rz represents a voiced retroflex fricative IPA[ʐ], similar to English "zh" as in Zhivago. It is pronounced the same as ż, the only difference being that rz is historically descended from soft 'r' IPA[rʲ] while ż evolved from a 'g'.
