From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This was my admin coaching subpage. I've quit being coached until my adoption is over. If you are going to ask a question, please ask on my talk page first. P.S. The questions and answers below are really just for me to read over and see what I would do as an admin if I ever ran for WP:RFA.

1. What admin work do you intend to take part in?
A: When I first become an administrator, I would do some practicing and learning at Wikipedia:New admin school. It would really improve the likely hood of not misusing the tools. I have been told it is a great place to learn what admin tools do, how to use them properly, etc. I don't intend on misusing the tools. If necessary, I may not even start using the tools actively at places I have no clue about without first consulting the admin school.
Okay, now for the admin tasks. As per my activity here, I'd like to spend my time in admin tasks, and of course article building at times (that's why we're here), in various places where admins are particularly needed. I intend to be of help to the WP:DYK section on the main page. In my time as a non-admin, I've been reviewing DYK nominations at Template talk:Did you know where nominations are held and I have been watching what admins do and how they update it. The actual template that transludes to the main page is Template:Did you know. I plan to update the template before the next deadline. If you've noticed that I am always active on wikipedia, I will be able to update it every so often if other admins are not currently online or aware of it. This takes great responsibility and I believe I would be responsible enough to do this task.
Not just DYK, but I intend to be of help at WP:AFD. This takes great judgement. Since I am normally active here as a non-admin, it would be of help to have the extra tools to delete the articles that are !voted as a concensus to delete. That's where the tools come in. But of course, closing debates as "keep" will be a part too that I will continuo to do.
Now let's get on to the vandalism. As many of you have noticed before, WP:AIV is backlogged at times and needs administrator attention. I will generally watch list AIV in case of any reports. When a report is made, you don't just go block willi-nilly, you check the user's contributions, and such, actually deciding if the user must be blocked or not. That's what I intend to do. And of course, I will still continuo my usual vandal patrol.
My background places I'll do admin tasks at would probably be deleting pages at the WP:SPEEDY category, actually making sure they were tagged properly then speedy deleting them. I'd occasionally check to see if there are any pages that should be protected at WP:RFPP, approving the requests and fulfilling them. One's that I don't believe have been tampered or have had much disruptive editing would of course be declined.
Just one more thing. I would do my best to try to fulfill requests that I get individually on my talk page. If I do, which I try my best to, then that would be good. But if it seems I won't be able to fulfill a request on my talk page, then I would point out admins who I know who can take over the job.

4. What is the difference between a ban and a block?
A. A ban is a "formal revocation of editing privileges on all or part of Wikipedia" (from WP:BAN). A user or IP can be banned by the community, ArbCom, Jimmy Wales (User account name is User:Jimbo Wales) or the foundation. Blocking means of enforcing a ban by technically preventing a user from editing Wikipedia (definition at WP:BLOCK). A user can also be blocked from editing for any period of time. If a user is a vandal only account, that user is always be blocked indefinently (or never ending until lifted).
