"rypoll" is the pseudonym of a stubborn bloke from Middleton, Greater Manchester. At 19 he began playing badminton competitively with a well-trained, thoroughbred Serbian by the name of Slobodan. Slobodan is bigger than the Terminator and is often refered to as "The Robot Man".

[edit] First Games - The Rookie Weeks

Naturally, Ryan lost the first game due to his general lack of strength as can be seen by his skeletor face.
Naturally, Ryan lost the first game due to his general lack of strength as can be seen by his skeletor face.

]In the first week of the Easter holidays the first Anglo-Srpski badminton match took place. Both Slobodan and rypoll were rookies at this point and virtually no rallies took place. rypoll had great difficulty serving without it going outside the box in the first week which Slobodan took advantage of, winning the first match.

Initially, different rules were used to the championship badminton we see today. The player who served was determined by whoever wanted to serve at that time. The double court was used, and the scoring went up to ten.

For the first few games a very cheap and shitty shuttlecock was used. Later on a much more professional, Serbian owned shuttlecock was used, and is used up to the present day.

[edit] Weeks 2-3 - The Semi-Professional Week, the consistency of rules

Akin to the House of Commons, disputes began to arise about the legislation of the game. It emerged from the very start that the server seemed to be disadvantaged in a way, perhaps because the receiver is then free to hit it anywhere in the court, making the server have to run. This can be cited by looking into the statistics published by SlobExam. Both players realised this and even when the shuttlecock was near at hand they preferred to throw it to the opponent so they have to serve. This was seen in week 2 when Slobodan infamously said "I just served for 9 points" throwing the shuttlecock to rypoll as he said this.

It was agreed that the player whose half of the court saw the shuttlecock land at the end of a point would have to serve.

[edit] Week 3-4 - The Professional Week and the emergence of the "smash"

In week 3 the results were 3 games each. A obvious pattern was emerging, with Slobodan winning one then rypoll. This pattern would follow up until this day.

In terms of the playing style, there wss a great leap in week 3. rypoll was affected by the playstyle of his father and began to smash it more. This smash had a very low success rate and it caused rypoll to become disillusioned with his playstyle. Furthermore, Slobodan employed the "stroke" technique which means hitting the shuttle as near to the net as possible. This contributed to rypoll's depression.

New rules were integrated into the game in week 4. It bcome more professional and consistent as the players began to do research into the game of badminton. Individual games were comprised of 11 points, with servers serving for 3 points and alternating. The first server of a game would be the winner of the previous game ("game" must not be confused with "match". A "match" is the whole activity with a definite winner and a loser of that day).

[edit] Week 5 - rypoll's glasses and Slobodan's fear of trampolines

Week 5 started with a score of 4-3 to Slobodan. On monday, rypoll won, equalising to 4-4. This match was very different for rypoll as this was the first game he had played with his glasses. This has perhaps contributed to his emphatic win on Monday, but critics suggest that he won due to the pattern that has formed called a "Slob win, Ryan Win".

A trampoline was introduced at the end of this game, where rypoll attempted a flip but failed. Slobodan expressed a deep fear of trampolines and instead opted to go under it and kick the living shits out of Ryan, perhaps with the intention to injure him and gain an advantage in future games.

Disputed began in week 5 about the length of a match in week 5. This has yet to be resolved.

[edit] A month later, Ryan domination

This game was largely frustating for The Slop. Ryan won the first game, and Slop reciprocated by winning the second. However, there was two games which Ryan won with a score of 11-10 and 11-10 coming back both times from 8-10 to win the game. The Slop showed random fits of anger and as a result bent his new badminton racquet (thus destroying the trust Ryan once had for him to borrow the dad racquet). In the end it was a Ryan win but still a close competition.

[edit] 2-3 weeks before Serbia and Slob strikes back

Well a few weeks till Serbia and from 6-4 down and Ryans ultimate domination in the past 3 games Slob has struck back. On the 30th May a good and though game where Slop won 6-5 after a 5-5 draw and next game wins was brough into action. On the 6th June 2007, the Slop domination was seen by beating Ryan 6-2 after a thrillling match.

[edit] Attire

The players' attire has changed over the weeks. Initially Ryan (rypoll) went for the joggers and hoody look. Slobodan is a robot.

Slobodan was consistent with his look throughout the week, with black shorts and a red serbian shirt. He also kept a blue serbian hat very close to his being perhaps as a mascot or to hide a psychological scar.

Ryan began to wear shortsl ater on to get air to his copper dick. He also went for a cap that had a hole in the top to manage his growing hair. Coupled with a cheap-frame glasses, this look has been the subject of amusement for the youngsters of Middleton, prompting a young black individual to insinuate Ryan was a spaz and mock his ginger hair

On the 18/4/2007 Slobodan wore a Manchester United shirt and Wikipedia has found out that the reason behind this is that The Slop is giving tribute to Nemanja Vidic.

[edit] Slobodan's Corner

I am Slobodan, the Serbian Terminator and the Serbian badminton star. These Badminton championships have really gone well. I see that I have a hard opponent to beat, and that is my challenge. So far the game has been of equal standards and now in week 5 stands at 4-4. The pressure is now on me for the next game to win and continue this trend SlobWin-RyanWin. I am hoping that I will be able to break this chain rather than my Englishman opponent.

Well what can i say about the 18/4/2007. I mean I didnt play well as I expected and I lost but it is competative and I trust that this will make me stronger and better for the next game. Thank you Interview given by The Slop on the 18/4/2007 to BBC, CNN, RTS, BN, Duga, Sky and SkySports, News of the World, The Guardian, La Monde and Dnevnik.
