Ryll is a main character in Ian Irvine's The Well of Echoes quartet. He is a wingless lyrinx, but is one of the most powerful mancer's among his people. He is a brilliant flesh-former and often works with the passionate Liett on such experiments. Ryll and Liett have a complicated relationship, though it is clear that each has deep romantic feelings for the other. Ryll captures Tiaan liise-Mar several times, but despite everything they become friends. Ryll becomes increasingly more respected among the lyrinx because of how clever his ideas are, despite his deformity and makes many of their key breakthroughs during the war.
[edit] Characteristics
Ryll is a wingless lyrinx and often feels ostracised because of his deformity, a regular thing among the lyrinx rescently. He is small for a male lyrinx, yet compared to a human he is infinitely stronger. He has hundreds of teeth in his maw and his claws are easily capable of ripping through human flesh. Ryll is completely armoured and has full use of his chameleon and skin-speech abilities.
Ryll is incredibly honourable and does not lie as a rule, like many lyrinx, he just avoids answering. Despite this Ryll is not completely adversed to making slightly misleading statements. He is calm and determined in his use of the Art, in which he is very powerful and often finds himself the polar opposite of Liett's rash, opinionated views. However he is determined to form a relationship with Liett, who he feels deeply for.
