[edit] Apple logo
Greetings! I have reverted your re-insertion of the Apple logo on to your userpage. This image is tagged with a fair use tag, and as such it may not be used in userspace, per the policy found at Wikipedia:Fair_use#Policy item #9. For further explanation, please refer to User:Durin/Removal of fair use images. I have no desire to anger you in any way, but we may not use such images in userspace. Please do not re-insert the image or any other fair use images into your userpage. If you have any questions about this, feel free to ask me. Thanks! --Durin 03:58, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry about the error, thanks for the clarification. Ryanjo 16:50, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Relay templates
Ryan, I think you should stop this for the time being. You have put the template in manually, which has a problem in that, if there is an error (in this case you put John Henricks instead of Jon Henricks), one would have to fix every article to fix Jon Henricks. If you put in Template: Olympic 4x200m freestyle relay for instance, and then insert {{Olympic 4x200m freestyle relay}}, then it will generate the table from the template, and when an error is fixed on all templates, it will be fixed on all of the respective articles. REgards, ßlηguγΣη | Have your say!!! - review me 01:57, 18 May 2006 (UTC).
- Thank you for correcting me. I will construct a template and correct the articles. -- Ryanjo 02:08, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, I saw your message on Talk:Harold Hardwick. A lot of the links link to someone other than the swimmer, so I had to change them. Thanks. Blnguyen | Have your say!!! 01:56, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Penalty shootout
Hi, thanks for correcting my error in the Penalty shootout article regarding goalkeepers... I had been dabing goalkeeper wikilinks and hadn't checked the context properly. Cheers, --Daveb 08:15, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Redwood High Article
The "prank" was a bad heading, but it is absolutely worthy of Wikipedia. It clearly isn't worthy of it's own page, but it must be at least mentioned on the page. You cannot use fuzzy logic when determining what's "in" and what's "out". You cant leave the columbine shooting out of the Columbine High article, it was a big thing that made national television and people went to jail. This is a big thing that made national television and people will go to jail. You can just use some floppy logic to determine the difference between those two events in importance, but if someone hears something about chickens and Redwood High on Fox, it would be pretty stupid for them to find NOTHING on wikipedia. Please focus your efforts on removing information that really should be here, rather than protecting an article you practially wrote. I'll review the rules, to make sure, but I am pretty sure that you are doing something explicitly forbidden by Wikipedia. For Wikipedia to work, it must be a continually growing pool of knowledge, and reverting a page whenever someone adds information just because you don't like the unbiased truth is working against Wikipedia. --General Eskimo
- I am sorry that it irked you, but I disagree that it meets Wikipedia norms. I base this on other similar articles on Wikipedia, ie: Miramonte High School (not authored by me). I think there is a difference between simple incident, and information on an encyclopedia which gives information that describes something essential about the topic. Columbine is clearly of significance. A minor incident, such as a prank or mugging just isn't. The fact that I contributed the facts of this article is just an interest of mine. The article needs more work (on Faculty and Academics for instance), and as it stands it seems incomplete. I hope that you can be of help in this way. Just my opinion. -- Ryanjo 03:43, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Olympic-rings.png removed from your user page
The images were removed from User:Ryanjo/examples. If you're in the middle of testing the redesign of a page or template, I suppose it's okay to keep the image there for a bit, although it should be removed as soon as possible. I'd also like you to take note, though, that Image:Olympic-rings.png has been replaced by Image:Olympic rings.svg. joturner 16:56, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Water polo
Thanks for the pic of the Dutch flag! By the way, I am from Serbia myself... Zhix 16:32, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
A very important thing on the page WATER POLO! I cannot change the template, you could try. The flag of Yugoslavia is erroneous in many places. The flag of Yugoslavia had a red star prior to 1992. From 1992 to 2003, the Yugoslav flag dropped the red star, and it was a plain tricolour, exactly as the flag of Serbia and Montenegro. The country was later renamed Serbia and Montenegro, in 2003. so, please, change the Socialist flags in every table, and put the plain tricolour. You can use the flag of Serbia and Montenegro insted, as usual! Zhix 12:18, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, it is perfect now! You know, sometimes it's a tricky business tracing all the changes in flags: the USA flag had 48, 49, 50 stars in the last 60 years, isn't it so? And the CoA on the Spanish flag after Franco, etc. So, we're here for each other! Zhix 14:15, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 1956 Hungarian Revolution
Thanks for your clarification on the link added to the 1956 Hungarian Revolution article. I don't read Hungarian, so I was mistaken about the nature of the page. Regards, --Ryanjo 21:56, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- Most welcome. No surprise you were mistaken: ads are their only source of income (anyone can start and maintain a lap.hu collection for free), thus it does look like an advertising page. That is, unless you look at it using Firefox / Mozilla plus Adblock... :) Regards, KissL 09:40, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
re: lead paragraph - I see it as a work-in-progress, please change it as you wish. (Im not happy with it either) The previous was such a gordian knot it had to be moved - not deleted, but set aside for rework. Istvan 15:01, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
Regarding "prelude to the revolution" If you think it should be reverted, go ahead. I won't have time to do any more work on the article.--Paul 09:04, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
uploading to commons - you have to register first, make sure you have the copyright info straight, then describe the image as per the template they provide for cut/paste (in the big box), make sure your file extension matches the format (they wont do it automatically), then press upload (it may rename the image, placing underscores in place of spaces) and voila. Be sure to make the filename descriptive - i.e. when, where, what (in whatever order works) and please post it to the commons page "Hungarian Revolution of 1956" so we can have it all in one spot. Hope that helps. Istvan 04:16, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Electronic medical record
With your recent edits to Electronic Health Record and Patient safety, you may be intrested in this edit on Electronic medical record. Thanks, -- Argon233 T C @ ∉ 17:03, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
- I did notice that edit. I posted the original reference, apparently incorrrectly, since when I reviewed the reference it didn't support the "90% of NHS general practitioners have access to EMR". Ouch! I must have mixed up the quoted reference with another article, since I know I read this fact. So I have changed the same reference on CPOE, Patient safety, and Electronic health record, which had similar statements. When I find the correct figure, I'll re-edit. Regards--Ryanjo 22:27, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
Hi, I agree with you that the EMR and EHR articles should be merged. How do we go about doing that? --Kawanazii 19:12, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
- I think I'll post on the EMR discussion page that it will be merged into the EHR page if no objections, since the content of the EMR page is already in the EHR page, plus more. If no protests in a day, replace the text of the EMR page with the Redirect command, targeting the EHR page (see Wikipedia:Redirect). Regards, --Ryanjo 22:08, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Water Polo
Hello. First off I'd like to ask if you'd review the main water polo article and the new History of water polo article to make sure everything is in line. Also, I wasn't suggesting purging the entire sections on Strategy under water only making it substancially shorter, sort of like what happened with the history. Thanks for your time and effort Outside Center 23:22, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
- History of water polo looks like a good start. I added a brief lead section similar to the Origins of baseball, and since the whole article is history, I took out the "History" section and elevated the subsections to sections. I also added categories and a "Notes" section so the "in-line" references are displayed, and a "See also" to refer back to Water polo. I put the "Leading water polo teams" templates into the history articles, since most are team records. Someone may eventually add details on the individual teams.
- As far as the strategy section, I wouldn't expect such detail in a history article, unless referring to trends in team play, or styles of play developing, etc. I would suggest making another post about moving or reducing the strategy sections on the Talk:Water polo page before making a big edit of that type. Future editors may simply expand the defense and offense strategy sections again, not realizing the new location, since IMHO, it's not a "natural" for a history article. Hi Ryanjo, I moved Tutmosis' list of recommendations to the 56 talk page, and have been updating them there. I believe Paul is using that one as well - you may want to copypaste what you have posted on my talk page over to the 56 talk page - that way we can all be on the (drumroll please) "same page" (to coin a phrase) BTW, I think we're close - really close. Well we'd better get our nom up immediately. I notice some noms mention (in the nominating text) a requested date for feature. Since 23 October is the very next one to be chosen, I would suggest that you put up Paul's version of the textbox, and a version of my text as the nom article (which includes the ref to 50th anniversary, bravest act, etc.) (please see NCurse's request to Raul654 - it worked). Would you like to do the honours this time? Paul? KL? I dont want to hog these things. If nobody has put something up in one hour, I will do it. Istvan 21:12, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Settingscreen.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Settingscreen.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Hello Ryanjo,
I am trying to create a wikiproject that deals with swimming, and sports based on swimming. This would include water polo, and, as a fellow water polo player, I would like to invite you to join. Please add your name here if you are interested. See you around the pool, --wpktsfs 01:26, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

If you have any questions, please contact me on my talk page, or the project talk page. For starters, my first goal is to get {{WikiProject Swimming}} on as many swimming related talk pages as possible. Please help get this new project off to a great start! [edit] One week under our belt
Dear Ryanjo,
Thank you for being a member of WikiProject Swimming. For all of you that have helped in our first week, thank you so much. This has been a very hard week for us in the States, with the Virginia Tech event. This project has been a way for me to remove my mind from the terrible event. Thank you for helping out, and improving the project. Please keep the motivation going in the next few weeks, and try to recruit as many swimmers, divers, water dancers and polo players as you can. Be proud of your sport!
See you around the pool,

[edit] Commercial use of Image:Essence05.jpg
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Essence05.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Essence05.jpg has a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission, which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3). While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[1][2]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.
If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.
If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.
If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Essence05.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. [edit] USC water polo photo
The caption change is no problem for me. I neither went to USC nor have I ever even been to California. I hail from Virginia and played Waterpolo for The College of William and Mary... So I'm not sure what you mean by vanity photo. At my screen resolution, the location to which you have moved the photo breaks the layout of the article. I also disagree with the assertion that the photo would be better suited to any USC specific page... This is the only photo on Wikipedia I've been able to find of a Waterpolo player out of the water, showing the full uniform. That being said, the equipment section already had ample photos, so it makes sense to move the photo to a section related, but with no photos. Cheers. —Peco! Peco!TALK 17:03, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia: WikiProject Swimming
Hi there, Ive recently joined the WP:WikiProject Swimming team. Im committed to getting on top of the project. Since you have listed yourself as a participant i thought i'd let you know what i've done. Ive got a bot thats going through the relevant catagouries that apply to the project and tagging them with our banner. Ive done all the stub class articles and assessed them automaticlly, and im starting on the 3000 other articles that ive identified. So this will mean that we will have all the articles in the scope of the project together and we can start working on them. So if you have any spare time theres going to be thousands of articles that will need assessing. There are around 2000 articles Just in in stub class, and most of these will need the importance assessed. I think it's important we get all this assessing done, so we can start working on the articles.
Don't fell pressured to start assessing articles, i just thought that since theres going to be so many articles, you should know that theres heaps of work that needs to be done, ill be trying my best once my exams are finished. Remember many hands make light work.
