[edit] Dan Jones
About Dan Jones, the Welsh missionary: Should he be included for some reason in the disambiguation page for Daniel Webster Jones? Was his middle name "Webster"? If not, I would consider taking him off the page. And if I were to then create a new article about him, I would take off the "(missionary)" suffix, unless there are other Dan Joneses. Thanks, zappa.jake (talk) 03:59, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
Agreed. Though the two Mormon Dan Jones' are confused sometimes, Dan Jones and Daniel Webster Jones are distinct categories for the purposes of a Wikipedia disambiguation page. I do notice that there is an empty link on the current Dan Jones article referencing "For Joseph Smith's bodyguard, see Dan Jones (Mormon)." (This is the same individual as the Welsh missionary). Mainly, I'd left it there because you'd put it in, after I had mentioned it as an example. Anyway, thanks. Ryan Reeder 06:06, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Move of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Hi, Ryan! I'm Alanyst. You might remember me from such websites as the EDS message board.
Just wanted to drop a note regarding your move of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, The. I have moved it back, effectively undoing what you did. Please allow me to explain.
While I applaud your boldness in just doing what you thought to be the correct action, please be aware that there was a lengthy discussion about the proper name for the Wikipedia article about the Church a while back. See Talk:Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints/Archive 5 under the heading "Page rename/move discussion" for the discussion. The end result was that while some advocated for the inclusion of the definite article "The" in the title of the Wikipedia page, others opposed the move. In the end, there was not sufficient consensus to support the rename/move operation.
No doubt you were unaware of the discussion or its outcome, so don't get the idea that the move was a Bad Thing to Do (TM). You boldly edited, which is a positive trait for a Wikipedian. But now that you know a bit of the background, and to avoid a renaming war, it's probably best if you sought consensus for the move on the Talk page before attempting it again.
Best wishes for good editing! Alanyst 06:12, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mormon Trail
Oh, Ryan. Someday soon, (how soon?) I hope, I'm going to get to work on Mormon Trail which is in terrible shape. You look like you might be interested too. Want to help? WBardwin 09:34, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
Sure, among other things. (I'm still kind of new here, so I'm not quite sure--I'm supposed to respond on my page to comments made to others to my page, right?) There are a few areas, particularly in LDS history, that I'd like to make some contributions in. I just put up a stub for Devil's Gate, Wyoming, as far as the Mormon Trail goes. Thanks for the heads up on the targeted for deletion. I'd noticed the changes you made, but I plan to go more in-depth at some point, anyway, on that article.Ryan Reeder 10:21, 18 April 2006 (UTC) (forgot to sign earlier).
- Great -- I've been talking to another user about work to be done on Mormon Battalion which is also in great need of help. If interested, please take a look at his proposed outline on the talk page. Look forward to working with you. WBardwin 09:49, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] List of temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
I have determined not to get in an edit war again - but Gellerson reverts contrary to the views expressed on the talk page - can you help??? Trödel 21:20, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
- I misunderstood what Trödel was doing - and have left Trödel's edit as-is except for fixing spelling and a duplicative heading. Denvoran 23:57, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Greetings
Hi. I saw your name pop up on my watchlist, and now it's been bugging me because your name sounds super familiar. I just can't figure out where we've crossed paths before. Sue Anne 21:32, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
I'm not sure. I don't see enough information to be able to tell who you are. I've lived in Brigham City, Bolivia, Provo, and Salt Lake City. Online, I've been posting for several years with my real name on Eric D. Snider's message board. Hope that helps. Let me know.--Ryan Reeder 04:50, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

- Have you been on either Mormon-L or LDS-left? Sue Anne 06:15, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
Nope. Haven't heard of them. I consider myself fairly conservative, actually. Are you thinking you know me from real-life or online? Also, I've met at least two people personally who were named Ryan Reeder. --Ryan Reeder 07:10, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] License tagging for Image:JReubenClarkHeadstone.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:JReubenClarkHeadstone.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 06:05, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Daniel Webster Jones
The article itself states that he resided in Howard County, Missouri. According to the definition of the US government, Howard County is currently a part of the Columbia, Missouri metropolitan statistical area, and all the people who have resided in any part of the current MSA have been placed in the appropriate People from X category. This would actually make it easier to find people in a smaller, suburban, community, not harder. I acknowledge that some feelings might be hurt by people who cannot see themselves as being in any way related to the core city of an MSA, and I sympathize with that. However, for any students who might be looking for people from their home town to write papers on, I think that the smaller search categories would be helpful, even if the names of the categories are mildly objectionable. Unfortunately, the existing category names indicate that "People from [City]" is the proper name, and reversion of all to "People from the [City] metropolitan area" would created undue hardship in recategorizing, say, Philadelphia, Boston, and the other larger metropolitan areas. You are, of course, free to do as you see fit. My recent actions have been taken to bring the Category: People from Missouri down to usable size, particularly as I am slowly adding all of the current state representatives and Senators, which will make it grow yet again. Again, however, you are free to do as you see fit. These actions were taken for the purpose of making it easier to find people, and if other considerations outweigh that one, so be it. [edit] Joseph Standing
Ryan,
I made a major revision to the Joseph Standing article you created last year (July 2, 2006). The images of his grave you posted are great. Now their are images of the murder site and Monument in Georgia. Check it out. Matthew R. Lee 02:11, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Image:ElizabethAnnWhitneyGrave.jpg
A tag has been placed on Image:ElizabethAnnWhitneyGrave.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I8 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is available as a bit-for-bit identical copy on the Wikimedia Commons under the same name, or all references to the image on Wikipedia have been updated to point to the title used at Commons.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Sdrtirs (talk) 03:09, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
