Welcome!

Hello, Ryan Keyes, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome!

I noticed that you created the page Ryan Keyes as a redirect to your user page. However, there is a distinction between the so-called mainspace, where the articles are, and userspace. Accordingly, redirects from mainspace to userspace are not a good idea. Feel free to ask on my talk page if you have any questions.--Kubigula (talk) 03:28, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Your questions

Here's what I know...

  • Userboxes and sidebars: You insert {{Boxboxtop|UserBoxes}} to start the userbox sidebar (you can change the name "UserBoxes", if you like). Follow this with any userboxes you like, then close the box with {{boxbottom}}. There's a lot more information about userboxes at WP:UBX.
  • Page deletion: only administrators can actually delete a page. The rest of us can only request or propose a deletion. There are three basic types of deletion requests/proposals - (1) requests for speedy deletion, see WP:CSD for the criteria for speedy deletion; (2) proposed deletion - see WP:PROD for the criteria for proposing deletion; and (3) Articles for Deletion, where contested deletion proposals go for discussion by other editors.

It may seem like there are a lot of rules, but really the five pillars (WP:5) are the keys. You learn your way around the place fairly quickly. So, have fun.--Kubigula (talk) 03:56, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Forgot one. The "contents" is automatically generated by the system after the page gets a certain number of sections added.--Kubigula (talk) 03:59, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Question on Editing

Does anyone know how to edit userboxes or know the color hexadecimal code? I'd really appreciate it.

See Wikipedia:Userbox. --hello, i'm a member | talk to me! 02:31, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

Re:Hello

To rename a page use the move tab on the top of the screen. You cannot delete a page which you have created. Only administrators can do that. --hello, i'm a member | talk to me! 02:31, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

Colors and sig

You can see the color codes at Web colors - it never ceases amaze me how much info there is on Wikipedia.

You can also customize your signature by clicking "my preferences" on the top of the page. If you select the "raw signature" box, you can create your signature using standard wiki markup. FYI - excessively complicated signatures (i.e. graphics and colors) are a bit controversial, as they can mess with page layout and slow page loading.--Kubigula (talk) 03:29, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

Name change

The name change link is WP:CHU; looks like they have a backlog.--Kubigula (talk) 03:42, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
