Ryan Miller is Guster's lead singer. He also plays guitar and occasionally bass or piano. He met bandmates Adam Gardner and Brian Rosenworcel while the three were freshmen at Tufts University in August 1991, and met bandmate Joe Pisapia some years later.

Ryan Matthew Miller was born November 21, 1972 in Lubbock, Texas. He was raised in Richardson, Texas and graduated from Berkner High School, where he had his own band, the Silents. Miller is the only child of Ross and Cookie Miller.
He majored in religious studies at Tufts University and graduated with a bachelor of arts in 1995. He has since pursued a full-time career in music.
Miller lives in New York City and has been married since late 2005.
