Ryan Thomas Gosling (born November 12, 1980) is an Academy- and Golden Globe Award-nominated Canadian actor. He is best known for his roles in The Notebook, Half Nelson, and Lars and the Real Girl.

Gosling divides his time between Toronto and Los Angeles, California.[1] Gosling also has several homemade tattoos.[1] He has a dog named "George" whom he rescued from a kennel in Los Angeles. He is a partner in Beverly Hills restaurant, "Tagine", which specializes in Moroccan cuisine.

He was in a relationship with his The Notebook co-star, fellow Canadian Rachel McAdams, but Gosling announced their breakup in the November 2007 issue of GQ.[2] He calls Rachel one of the "greatest loves of his life." The Notebook director Nick Cassavetes had previously said that he was surprised to see the two together, as they argued a lot on the set of The Notebook.

Gosling notes Gary Oldman as his all-time favorite actor.[3][4][5].
