Ryan Michael Dvorak is a Democratic member of the Indiana House of Representatives, representing the 8th District since 2002 He graduated from Penn High School in 1992, and went on to attend the University of Notre Dame, graduating with a B.A. in Philosophy in 1996. Ryan is also a 2008 J.D. candidate from the Indiana University School of Law - Indianapolis.

Upon graduating from Notre Dame, Ryan served as a senior aide to Congressman Tim Roemer in South Bend and Washington, D.C. from 1996 to 2001.

After returning home to Indiana, Ryan was elected to the Indiana House of Representatives in 2002. He became chairman of the Committee on Courts and Criminal Code in 2003.

Currently, Representative Dvorak serves as chairman of the Environmental Affairs Committee, and serves as a member of the Commerce, Energy, and Utilities Committee, the Courts and Criminal Code Committee, and the Judiciary Committee.

He has volunteered his time with organizations like Christmas in April and Habitat for Humanity, and served as vice president of the Board of Trustees for Veritas Academy in South Bend, Indiana’s first public charter school.

Ryan is the oldest of eight siblings (Todd, Sean, Brett, Carrie, Brady, Casey, and Tyler), and the son of Michael and Kathy Dvorak. Michael Dvorak is the St. Joseph County Prosecuting Attorney.

Ryan and his wife Angela were married in November 2005.
