Ryan Connor is a fictional character from the British ITV1 soap opera Coronation Street, played by Ben Thompson.[1]
Ryan Connor was assumed as the son of Michelle Connor, but was later to be found he was swapped at birth and is the biological son of Nick and Wendy Neeson.[2] He attends Weatherfield High.

In December 2006 he was caught by Norris Cole vandalising the Kabin, spraying the walls of the shop with graffiti with slogans such as "JPL KMS 4EVER!" among other things. He also sprayed the word 'Noz' on the wall, with a caricature of Norris behind it. Initially, Ryan turned the tables on Norris. But when the truth was revealed, his mother Michelle made him help in the Kabin every night after school for a week.
His mum started dating newcomer Sonny. Steve McDonald, who was also interested in Michelle, offered to drive Ryan over to Sonny's house while she was there having dinner. She told Steve that Sonny didn't know about Ryan. When they arrived Ryan went in and Michelle came out and threw her dinner over Steve and told him that Sonny already knew about Ryan and was fine with it. Michelle then told him to stop using Ryan to come between her and Sonny.
After Sonny broke up with Michelle, Ryan went to ask him why. Sonny tried to hide the truth from Ryan. However, Ryan spotted Sean coming out of his bedroom, and, consumed with anger, Ryan went joyriding in Sonny's car but he was soon caught by the police though later released.
When he returned to the Street his uncle Paul smacked him across the face. The reason for this was later revealed to be that Paul caused the demise of Ryan's late father, Dean, due to careless driving.
Several months, later Paul died in a car accident after kidnapping Leanne Battersby

At the beginning of December 2007, Ryan was followed many times by a man in a blue Suburu car, he appeared when he was waiting for his school bus, whilst at school and even on the Street. He became scared and wondered why the man was following him. He told his mother, Michelle, who told boyfriend, Steve and brother Liam, but at first the claims fell on deaf ears.
On December 9, whilst walking along the Street, the blue car pulled up besides him and the driver began to talk to him, using his name. Ryan ran into the Rovers and told his mother and uncle, resulting in Liam to run after the stalker, but he managed to escape. He again reappeared on December 17, but thanks to cab driver Lloyd, was followed to a house in the suburbs where the Connors all arrived. Minutes later the mysterious man let them in. He was explaining the story that he believed to be true, explaining that he believed Ryan to be his real son and Alex to be Michelle's after a baby mix-up at the hospital.[3][4]
Ryan eventually found out much to the dismay of Michelle and went to see Nick and Wendy. He then took an interest in Alex (the baby with whom he was swapped at birth). Alex regarded Ryan as weird and on the 21 January they fought in the street. Alex was knocked down by a car and both boys were taken to hospital. Ryan then agreed to take a DNA test and on 25 January it was revealed he wasn't in fact Michelle's son but was Nick and Wendy's. Michelle and Ryan hugged but it was obvious their relationship was never to be the same again. Nick wrote Ryan a letter in which he told him he was sorry for stalking him and hoped he understood why he had to see him. Ryan tore it up before reading it and Michelle picked up the pieces. Inside was a picture of Ryan just after he was born with Nick and Wendy.
Ryan moved in with his uncle and aunt, Liam and Maria Connor on 27 February feeling excluded because Alex was living with him. After Alex moved out on 7 March, Ryan moved back in. He has now started seeing Nick on several occasions. Steve has now told Michelle to take Ryan and Alex up to her parents in Ireland.
[edit] Continuity errors
- Ryan was born on 14 January 1992, yet at the beginning of June 2007, when he would have been fifteen years old. Michelle stated that Ryan is only fourteen (unlikely to be Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome, more likely just a mistake). However Ryan celebrated his 16th birthday when he should have done, in 2008.
