Ryan Burchett

Ryan Burchett (born January 24, 1972) was one of the survivors of the 2001 Amtrak crash in Nodaway, Iowa. Ryan, along with other passengers, rescued dozens of passengers that were trapped in the wreckage. The experience of the crash, and the related medical treatments for injuries sustained during the crash, led Ryan to pursue a career in the medical field. Ryan Burchett graduated from nursing school in 2005, and went on to work as a registered nurse. His stories from the crash and nursing school are collected in the book On the Wrong Track. Ryan keeps a permanent home in the Metro Detroit area. Ryan is currently on a tour of self discovery, traveling the United States as a registered nurse.
