From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hi, your recent unsourced edits were reverted. A previous user with similar editing habits and a similar name was recently blocked for disruption and copyright violation. If this is news to you, please don't worry, and read WP:V before making any further edits. If you happen to be Ryanbricks, I suggest you find another hobby. Deiz talk 08:14, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
- WP:V, WP:RS and WP:CITE contain all the info. Information must come from reliable sources such as major news outlets. Band websites, forums, blogs and fansites usually fall short of these requirements. You can join WP:CKY to link up with other editors interested in CKY. Deiz talk 08:29, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
- From what you've said the source would probably not satisfy our content policies. This is a pretty niche subject, and a lack of reliable independent material does not allow for less reliable, primary sources to be used instead. I know this can seem a little confusing ("Hey, it's true - why can't I write about it?"), but Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a fanography of our favourite rock bands. It's highly likely that most of what can be said about CKY has already been said - indeed, a good deal of the material about CKY on Wikipedia probably fails the criteria and could quite legitimately be removed. I like CKY, but I'm also an administrator with a very good working knowledge of these policies. Deiz talk 08:43, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Familiar realm
Nice design on the userpage... kinda familiar ;) Feel free to borrow ideas, you'll find your own style as you go along. Deiz talk 07:39, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Distant
I'm not against listing it, unlinked, in the infobox but I don't feel toooo strongly about it.. I'll add a comment to the thread on the CKY talk, and we'll see what happens. Deiz talk 05:58, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] An Automated Message from HagermanBot
Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! HagermanBot 04:22, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Using Google to find images
Thanks for participating over at WP:CKY. I removed your comment on the To-Do board about looking for images on Google because I feel that it might cause users to upload copyrighted images. Wikipedia cannot include pictures that it does not have the legal right to use, so finding images off Google raises copyright concerns as it is often difficult to determine who holds the license for a particular image. If you can find or obtain a license to use the image on the encyclopedia that would be great, but we cannot upload just any picture we find over Google. Thanks for your contributions again. —Ocatecir Talk 05:52, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Trivia
Hi again Ry, seems like your enjoying working on WP. A couple of notes: trivia is discouraged, and unsourced edits are seriously discouraged, hence I reverted your addition to AACBF and I've been generally cleaning up the triv on CKY articles whenever I have time. Please don't create trivia sections if they don't already exist, and try to source and format trivia into the main body of articles. The release history of IDR should also be sourced - I'll give you a chance to find a source for this (a band or label source would probably be OK for this one) but it could legitimately be deleted without a reference. Cheers, Deiz talk 14:40, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
- I'm sure everything you're adding is 100% accurate. I know it might seem strange I'm trying to keep facts out of WP but if you get further in you'll get a feel for how many editors and admins are generally tightening up on trivia and pop culture references. Deiz talk 08:56, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Portland Trail Blazers
Your edit to Portland Trail Blazers has been reverted for several reasons.
- It is unsupported
- The link is to a disambiguation page rather than to a specific individual
- Eric Bailey (basketball) does state that he is a motivational speaker but does not indicate any relationship with the Portland Trail Blazers. Further that article is also unsupported.
- You failed to use the edit summary to support the addition. Note in reviewing some of your other contribution it is noticed that you tend to never use the edit summary, please see the following:
Hello. Please don't forget to provide an edit summary. Thank you. Dbiel (Talk) 12:13, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Vsbin.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Vsbin.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:01, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Vscardiff.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Vscardiff.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. [edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Vikingskullcp2.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Vikingskullcp2.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 02:14, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:BlackenedSunriseEP.jpg}
Thank you for uploading Image:BlackenedSunriseEP.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:
-
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page.
