What is Wikiletics?

Short for "wiki homiletics," wikiletics.com is the first "wiki" (open-content) preaching resource on the Web. Every week, 20-30 pages of new homiletic resources will be posted on the website by Leonard Sweet and other contributers. We then encourage preachers to make changes to the content themselves, adding useful illustrations and animations, telling stories of how certain things worked and others didn't, and even changing whatever sermons are posted to reflect the collective wisdom of expert practitioners in the art and craft of preaching.

Accessing Sermon Content

When on the Wikiletics site, you can access the most current sermon content by from the home page box titled "Our Newest E.P.I.C. Sermon". Just click the title of the sermon in the box, and you will land on the most current wiki version of the sermon. What you will see is the collaborative product of all edits and enhancements to the content. If you want participate in the collaborative process by viewing or adding your own edits, you're in the right place. If you want to view the original, unedited, static version of the sermon, click the "View Original Sermon" link toward the upper-left part of the page.

If you want to view past sermon content, click on the "Sermons" link toward the top-left corner of the home page. This will take you to a menu of sermons, sorted by date submitted. To view or wiki-ize any sermon, simply click on its title. Again, you will land on the most current wiki version of the sermon, where you will be able to participate in the collaborative process. f you want to view the original, unedited, static version of the sermon, click the "View Original Sermon" link toward the upper-left part of the page.

Sharing and Editing Content

Each week as we make new sermon content available, you will be able to access it (or any previous sermons) as described above. When you've selected and accessed the preferred sermon content in wiki format, click on the "edit" tab above the sermon content to add your own content or edit what already exists.

The default editing format will be in Rich Text (see tabs at top of edit page). Rich Text works a lot like standard word-processing applications and is the simplest form for most people to use. If you are really into the wiki thing, you may click on the "Wiki Mark-up" index to make edits that way. Either way, when you are finished editing, you simply click the "Preview" tab to review your edits. If everything looks good, click the "Save" button in the upper right corner or lower right corner of the preview page and the edited sermon content will be automatically published within Wikiletics.

Your participation in sharing and shaping content doesn't end with text...by clicking on the "Attachments" tab (right beside the "edit" tab at the top of the content page) you can add other attachable media that enhances the sermon content. If you have a PDF document, a digital image, a sound file or other attachable media follow the instructions within the "Attachments" tab and your attachment will be added.

To see information on the way sermon content has been "built" click on the "Information" tab (right beside the "attachments" tab at the top of the content page). It will show you what has been edited, by who, and other interesting backgroud that went into the current iteration of the sermon content.

Participation and use of Wikiletics.com is free of charge! Please feel to explore the site, contribute content, share wisdom and use whatever you can to more effectively convey the Word of God.
