[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Gruenewald082k.jpg

I'm new and did not hit the selection. I would have deleted this, because I could not find how to add the copyright info once it was submitted. However, I reposted the picture with a new filename and assume that the original one without copyright info would be expunged. Should I have tried to delete it instead? Thanx, R.W. Rynerson 20:33, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Gruenewald082k.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Hetar 04:51, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Page number

I do have it and will post it shortly. Thanx-- I'm learning. R. W. Rynerson 20:30, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

If you have the page number for the quote you supplied "...despite all the fears, both sides managed to make many bargains as a result of the detente dialogue." Please add it to the citation on Four Power Agreement on Berlin. Regards Philip Baird Shearer 07:54, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Sud 0035k.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Sud 0035k.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 05:05, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Edmonton_Turnstiles.JPG listed for deletion

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Edmonton_Turnstiles.JPG has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. – riana_dzasta 09:33, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Licenses

Hi there! If you select a license which does not imply restricted use, you should be fine. As my note says above, you can proceed in one of two directions:

[edit] Your photos

Hi- just wanted to say, thanks for the interesting photos you've uploaded of Oregon in the 1960s. Very cool to see how things looked back then! -Pete 08:33, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
