Government Ensign of the United Kingdom

Is there an explanation as to why the Government Ensign of the United Kingdom is shown in the infobox? Is it an error on the part of the contributor, or is the U.S.-operated vessel sailed under a British flag? I have attempted to contact the editor who made the contribution, User:Kingalex56 (talk|contribs), without answer, as yet.
