Ruth Zakarian (born February 6, 1967) was the winner of the first ever Miss Teen USA pageant, held in 1983 in Lakeland, Florida. She went on to compete in the Miss USA 1984 pageant under her title "Miss Teen USA" though she did not make the top 10.
Zakarian was born in Amsterdam, New York and represented the state of New York. Before her pageant victory, the raven-haired teenager was a babysitter for future Miss New York Teen USA (and 1988's overall runner-up) Jessica Collins. During her interview, Collins called attention to this fact with Zakarian in attendance. [1]
She later gained fame as an actress under the stage name of Devon Pierce. Her most notable role was as "Diane Westin" on the soap opera The Young and the Restless. Ruth now lives with her daughter in Costa Rica.
