Ruth Munson is a Republican member of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing the 43rd district since 2002. The district includes portions of Elgin, Carpentersville, East Dundee and South Elgin.

She currently serves on the following committees: Committee on Whole, Computer Technology, Appropriations-Human Services, Elementary and Secondary Education, Insurance, Bio Technology, Tollway Oversight, International Trade & Commerce and Pension Funds Management.

As the founder of a small software development firm, Rep. Munson brings more than 2 decades of technology and business experience to the forefront of the Illinois General Assembly. Her legislative priorities include combating identity theft, job creation, improving access to healthcare, keeping families safe from gangs and enhancing education for all students.

Rep. Munson received a BA in Political Science from Northern Illinois University in 1981. She was elected to the Elgin City Council in 1999. There, Rep. Munson served on the Economic Development Council and Technology Action Team. During her tenure as councilwoman, Elgin revitalized its Center City, expanded its recreational facilities, lowered crime and gang-related activity, and increased economic development.
