Ruth Gemmell

Ruth Gemmell (born in 1967 in Darlington, UK) is a British actress. She trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London. After graduating she has done a variety of roles mainly in theatres and TV-dramas. However, she played the leading female role in the 1997 film Fever Pitch starring opposite Colin Firth and had another leading role in the comedy/drama January 2nd (2006). Other appearances include a role in The Bill (2003), Silent Witness (1996, 2006) and A Touch of Frost (2006). Theatre work include parts in The Weir; Nabokov's Gloves; The Turn Of The Screw; Othello; Measure For Measure; Uncle Vanya; An Ideal Husband; The Winter's Tale; The Second Mrs Tanqueray; The Importance Of Being Earnest; A Tale Of Two Cities as well as in Macbeth and King Lear for the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2004/2005.
Ruth Gemmell was married in 1997 to actor Ray Stevenson, whom she met during the filming of TV drama Band of Gold in 1995. The couple divorced in 2005.
