Ruth England

Ruth England (born 29 March 1970, Worcestershire) is a British television presenter and actress.

England was born in the rural village of Inkberrow in Worcestershire, England, and studied film making at the University of Westminster in London, where she currently resides with her husband, Myke Hawke.

After college, Ruth spent several months with the Iban tribe in the Borneo Jungle. During that time she immersed herself in village life, even sleeping in a traditional wooden long house with 47 other members of the tribe.

Ruth majored in documentary photography and wrote her dissertation on objectivity in news reporting & the work of John Pilger. Ruth England got a B.A. in contemporary media practice at the University of Westminster.

England first learned the television business at a local cable news station in the United Kingdom. She was later recruited to read the daily national news by one of the UK's major television networks. Since then, she has pursued a successful freelance television career in England and the United States.

For three years, she was host of Wish You Were Here...?, one of Britain's top travel shows. In addition, she travelled around the world as a reporter for the National Geographic Channel's Explorer's Journal. She also has hosted various game shows, reality shows and talk shows.

Ruth has had a part in Extreme Homes, Forever Eden, Wish You Were Here Today, Bootsale Treasure Hunt, Wish You Were Here...?, Under Pressure, Secrets In The Landscape, Perfect Partners, Alpine Rescue, Collectors’ Lot, Jailbreak, Talk TV, The Big Breakfast, Explorer’s Journal, Wild Weekend, Road Test and Simply Money.

She has appeared as herself in two episodes of the CBBC comedy show ChuckleVision, No Getting Away and A Job Well Done. In the former, she puts the Chuckle Brothers on her show with the job of fixing up a house so Paul could start a pottery business, but it resulted in the brothers infuriating her and making her leave. In the former, she starts a new show which also has the Brothers for contestants, and once again infuriate her, leading her to label them "incompetent".

In 2007, Ruth was seen in the ITV Central Region on local programme Sky High, where she would cover the sights of the Midlands from a Helicopter.
