Ruth Coppinger is an Irish socialist politician and activist. She is a Socialist Party councillor for Mulhuddart on Fingal County Council.

Ruth Coppinger is originally from south Dublin and was politically active in Labour prior to the expulsion of the Militant Tendency from the Party. She later attended at University College Dublin.

Ruth Coppinger was co-opted to take the council seat of Socialist Party TD Joe Higgins in July 2003. Coppinger was prominent in the Anti-Bin Tax Campaign which received national media attention following the jailing of Joe Higgins and her Socialist Party Council colleague Clare Daly for their protests against non-collection of refuse.

In the following year's local elections Coppinger achieved the highest number of votes of all candidates in Mulhuddart with 1,848 votes (14.72%). In Mulhuddart the Socialist Party retained its position as the largest party with 19.56%. Coppinger has been prominent campaigner against estate management fees and for the provision of school places in west Dublin's rapidly growing new housing estates.
