[edit] Hi there

Hey, I've noticed you joined WikiProject Thomas. It's good to have you on board :)

I do have to say something with regards to Thomas and Friends - Season 10 though. None of the sources, named by you or others, are terribly verifiable. I'd like to suggest you have a close read of the Guidelines for Contribution on the WikiProject Thomas page.

Season 10 has been a problem page for some time, and we've only just reached level ground (with the version that I'd put up). These shreds of rumour, however, have seen the page explode into dozens of frantic edits, none of which follow any appropriate guidelines. Until there is watertight proof, however, I will not be letting these edits remain.

I don't mean to come down hard on you at all, in fact it's refreshing that you're wiling to contribute, and also that you have actually signed up to Wikipedia (there are many unregistered users who get on our nerves!). Just making you aware of the situation with this page.

Kind regards,

Gonzerelli 03:56, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thomas Season 10

Hello Rusty5, have you actually seen the first episodes in Season 10 yet? I was just wondering as you've added them! Is 'Dusty Dave' a person or an engine and does Mighty Mac really return? Foxearth (logged out)

I've seen 'em, alright. Dusty Dave works at the Flour Mill (he's a person), & Mighty Mac is seen pushing Sir Handel to the Transfer Yards in "A Smooth Ride".

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:ToyStory3TempLogo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:ToyStory3TempLogo.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 01:35, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Formats

I see that you have been adding new formats to the Thomas and Friends Season 8-10. DON'T. You have dicarded valuable information. The old format is way better! It conatins more information and is the same as the other seasons. Diesel 10 06:26, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but we have to. The "valuable information" is just a coarse filed of spam and minor notes. I'll be moving on to other seasons because EdJogg himself gave me the task. And if you want to make a point, don't be so rude about it. --Rusty5 20:52, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
Diesel 10 is rather upset about these changes, and has come complaining to me (please see my talk page as several of my replies apply to you too). Now, I rather like the new format, which is very tidy, but I can understand his complaints.
However, the main reason for writing is that you have been claiming that I told you to do these changes, and, even if I had any authority to, I don't remember doing any such thing! (I'm not sure that I am happy about being referenced like this, it would be better if you say 'in line with WP:THOMAS policies' , since it implies that a collective decision has been reached.
These were large changes to apply, and while I applaud you for being bold, it would have been better to discuss the proposed format on the WP:THOMAS talk page first.
EdJogg 15:06, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
I apologise, sir. What I meant is that on Gonzerelli's talk page, you said to me to find the style that best suits me, and apply it. I think your reason that I didn't bring it to the project's talk page is my biggest mistake, but I should also keep working on the others, to keep consistency. Should we carry this to the WikiProject's discussion page, or should we settle and continue the cleanup? --Rusty5 16:14, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
Oops! Had forgotten about that one (been on 2 weeks holiday since!). I don't deny or take back what I wrote, but I think that if you say 'encouraged by' or 'supported by' EdJogg, rather than 'told to do by', there's a subtle change of emphasis that shows that you are driving the process rather than me. Better still, following a discussion on the project page you can say you have the support of the project, which avoids implying any sort of personal bias. Editors tend to shy away from anti-policy edits if they are repeatedly reverted 'according to project guidelines'... (I've probably done the same to you before now, early on!)
As for whether it requires further discussion on the project page now, I think that may depend on how far 'out-of-joint' Diesel10's nose has been put. If he reluctantly comes round to our way of thinking, there's probably no need, otherwise you ought to raise the matter on the project talk page and we'll have to unearth some quiet project members for their opinions. Individual bold actions are what drives WP forward, but it is the collaboration and peer review that ensures the quality.
EdJogg 16:55, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
He seems to have cooled down, as it's been a few days since he's reverted the pages. If he rreverts the pages again, I'll bring it to the project's talk page for certain. For now, I'll just wait a little to see if it causes more controversy. --Rusty5 17:53, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] New Format in Series 1 - 4

Would it be possible to have the Season 1, 2, 3 and 4 pages redone in the format that the rest of the Seasons are currently written in, if only to prevent 68.84.180.196 from constantly vandalising them. Getting him banned may help as well. CBFan 18:29, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

I was actually planning on doing that next. --Rusty5 18:55, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Images in Railway engines (Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends)

Hello. Regarding the images you added to this article recently: They're licensed as screenshots, yet the summaries claim that they're promotional images released by HiT. Which is the case? If they're screenshots, it would be useful to know which episodes they're from; if they're promotional photos, we need to know the source URL etc. (The fair use rationales also need fixing, but I'm willing to do that if you can clear up the source/licensing discrepancies.) --Domestic Correction 15:02, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

They are promotional images, but some of them are also deleted scenes from various episodes. They are from HiT News Online, and can also be spotted on back covers of certain DVDs. --Rusty5 16:35, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
Ok, it's sorted. There's a possibility that some images may not stay in the article if it's determined that too many non-free images have been used, but that's nothing to worry about for the time being. --Domestic Correction 19:28, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
