Hey, wait a minute, brass doesn't rust. Ergo, the term has no legitimate meaning, because it's impossible for a trombone to be rusty! ASWilson 06:39, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

"Drop trow and squeez out a clevland steamer on my chest"

I don't think this refers quite to a rusty trombone.

I'm glad this was kept. Now with a strong keep in its record, it should stay permanently until Wikipedia is professionally edited. Billy Blythe 18:36, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

"She played such a sweet rusty trombone, she brought a tear to my eye." Ronnierosenthal 12:22, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

Is the rust in a rusty trombone refering to a person's forgetfulness at not 'playing' the 'instrument' or does it refer to tasting the minute (or perhaps not so minute) amounts of feces on an anus? 216.9.250.6 08:27, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sources after survival of two AfD's

Even after surviving TWO AfDs, this article remains completely unsourced, as sources are defined as reliable per WP policies. It needs to establish clear notability by multiple reliable sources to survive another. Editors of this page: Right now is your time. CyberAnth 10:38, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Am unsure how/whether to work this into the article

In 1970, Oscar the Grouch sang on the children's television show Sesame Street a song entitled I Love Trash (1970) in which Oscar sings with extravagant enthusiasm about a few of his favorite things, such as "A sneaker that's tattered and worn," "A broken umbrella, a rusty trombone."[1] In 1998, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith created a rock version of I Love Trash' (1998).[1] Both I Love Trash (1970) and I Love Trash (1998) were included in the 2003 Sesame Street boxed set entitled Songs From the Street: 35 Years of Music (2003) and identified as one of the ten best songs from Sesame Street over the prior 35 years.[1]

The article could have a section showing an overlapping of the literal meaning use with the development of the disreputable meaning and perhaps how the disreputable meaning encroaches on previous literal meaning usage. I'll leave it up to others as to how/whether to work the above into the article. -- Jreferee (Talk) 18:49, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
