[edit] Nice Article
Hi Ilya!
I found this article through your comment on the talk page of the IYPT article. It's nice to read something about Russian YPT since IYPT originated from Russia. Maybe some of the historical information should also be included in the IYPT article. Do you have any more historical information on the foundation and the origins of the tournament? Would be very interesting.
Furthermore I will try to translate this article into German and add it to the German Wikipedia, as soon as I find the time.
One more thing: I am not quite familiar with the policy concerning categories, but I suppose if more and more countries add articles about their local YPT events it would be nice to have a category for YPT related articles... Just my 2 cents...

[edit] Thanks + Future plans
Hi Georg!
Thank you very much for your comments and thank you very much for your plans to make a German version of the RYPT article!
I will collect and translate material about the first years of the IYPT as soon as I find time. Indeed, the first years of the competition and the Dr. Evgeniy Yunosov's contributions were very interesting (numerous publications, support from leading scientists, first attempts to propose a 'Physics Fight' which is an analogy to a "real" scientific seminar or a confence, motivation of participants...)
Yes, your idea to make YPT-related categories is fascinating! I will keep that in mind!
My 2 cents are that possibly sometime there will be some sense to distinguish between
-
- (a) the article on YPT as a type of competition (an institution, a method to encourage students to learn physics, an event to promote physics, a competition that requires solving problems that never had a certain known solution...)
and
That is just my 2 cents... :))

[edit] Distinction
Hi Ilya!
I see your point concerning the distinction you mentioned. It seems reasonable, but I think for the time being we can leave it the way it is.
If more information about the different tournaments (IYPT, AYPT, RYPT, ...) as events becomes available, such a distinction will be more meaningful. Then the even-related articles could harbour the information about the history of the events and their development, while the general article could be used to describe the YPT idea as a whole. Furthermore the event-related articles could also contain information about local differences to the general structure.
As soon as we reach that point, I think that there would be enough justification for an own category for YPT-related articles.

- Yes, I completely agree with your position! Best regards, Ilya Martchenko 15:30, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] A question was added and then deleted
I have found that Alexander Kanivets has added a post asking if the images or the YPT logo would improve this article. However, an IP 91.122... soon edited and then deleted the post. I have just emailed A.K. and clarified that he has made all these changes and he has just forgotten to log in because as he is a newcomer. I recover his post --

- I'm a IYPT alumni and I was glad to find a page dedicated to the russian tournament. I wonder if it might be reasonable to add some photos or the logo of the competition?

- Well, I don't think there's a special need to inflate the article. However, the logo may improve both IYPT and RYPT articles. I am quite sure that we won't violate any copyrights. The logos are welcomed in Wikipedia under the fair use license. As I know, the YPT logo with knights was first published in 1982 and the author of the drawing was never reported.
